I'm with you Brad - was watching to see how he managed that section of trail.  That tight section with the giant root hole beside out always psyches me out.

Skinny bridge over a log leading into jank, there is a 'Bart Simpson' mask nailed to a tree right at the start of the skinny.

I have the 1up with a 4 bike tray, and it completely obscures the license plate on the two vehicles I use it on, much more then a NS Rack. I cant believe it wouldn't obscure the license plate on any other vehicle either.

Have also received a ticket for it in Vancouver. Was able to challenge the ticket after I started using the 1up license plate holder. 

Having owned and use both a 1up w/ 4 trays and an 4 bike NsRack - I much prefer the north shore rack.

The NSRack is:

* much more convenient if your frequently using it, it's just there. I don't have to fold it up and down, move the license plate.

* secures the bikes better

* has held up better over time. (The one up started to develop significant play causing bikes to wobble a lot)

* it's lighter

* believe it puts less strain on the receiver when fully loaded.

That being said - my NS Rack has developed that shitty rusty look, and not being able to properly carry road bikes is a pain in the ass.

I think a lot of my issues with the 1up is going to the 4 bike trays, I think it would have held up better if it were kept to two. The aluminum bolts that hold the extra trays, have also totally seized, and I've been unable to reduce it's size.

Fox pro-frame has been my go-to helmet for all rides this season. Maybe looks a bit silly when doing LOTS, but find it fit's well, well ventilated, and don't feel like I'm O2 starved.

Don't ride during peak hours. Previous Sunday around 6 pm, only a hand full of cars in the lot, and didn't see anyone on my ride.

I discovered the same with my 167 and doing 30km plus races , too much bike , looking for a smaller travel bigger wheeled bike for longer rides .

dumb question time! I've only owned a couple mountain bikes, and both of them have been on the smaller travel side. (120mm 2011 Rocky Element, 140mm 2014 Rock Instinct).

I've been lusting over these bigger travel 29ers. When you say it's too much bike ? Is it too heavy, too awkward on long climbs, or with all that suspension it's just not pedal friendly ? What makes it too much bike ?

Evil Bikes seems to have taken down the Wreckoning from their website. (Though now, I'm not sure it was ever there)

In addition to that, I believe there is an option that can remove your public rides from the heat map.

I don't know Mark personally, but highly appreciate the amount of work he's put into supporting our trails on the North Shore. The following was taken from Mark's facebook page; it's a good message that should be shared.

I broke my neck, its true. I wanted to share details so we can all be aware that next little crash might be far more serious than you think…

Wasn’t a big crash - a quick over the bars, but finished with an awkward head plant. My shoulders and neck went numb for a half minute before returning. I knew right away the mechanism of injury wasn’t good. Luckily I was with someone. Vince: “You ok?” Me: “I don’t think so, I’m not sure I want to move”. I was lying on my back with my head stabilized by my camelback. After remaining motionless, waiting for the adrenaline to fade, I tried to move my head ever so slightly. I could literally feel the grinding of bones at the base of my skull. “Make the call Vinnie.” NVFD was there in 30 minutes to cart me out.
Fast forward two weeks later and my first check up is positive, the 3 fractures in my C1 are confirmed stable, pain is subsiding. I’m able to stand again and even starting to take short walks but I admit it has been an uncertain and distressing couple of weeks. Realistically, I'm not out of the woods yet but “You’re trending in the right direction”, recent assurances from the neuro surgeon (who thank God won't have to operate), “keep in mind this is a very serious injury and there’s lots of soft tissue damage that will take months to heal.” I’m grateful to be walking, knowing others haven’t been so lucky. I’ve had a lot of time to sit and think, staring at the ceiling. I wanted to share this as a reminder of the risks out there and to consider our duty to ourselves and others we’re riding with.

Please consider this: Get some first aid training-know how to stabilize a spinal injury. Understand mechanism of injury and make a responsible call in the field-suggesting to stand up and shake it off could be the biggest mistake you make. If you’re riding solo, put your cell in an accessible pocket – there’s no way I could have got my cell out of my camelback in my condition or without great risk. We love to ride, but something that can be so incredibly fun can turn very serious in a split second. Consider how you will be prepared when things go sideways because that day may come ready or not. Be ready.

My boys have been doing the Sunday rides, Spring and Summer Camps with EndlessBiking for a few years now. They always have fun, coaching has always been excellent.

Summer camps do go up to Whistler for a day, and was a big highlight of the camp.

yeah i saw those trees on that side cut that drops you just below dale's and cut one of them out but left the other two for now as they could potentially be used as stringers and aren't causing any issues the way they are.

where are these other trees on ned's though? the two i cut out were right at the start of the trail just over that bridge and while i didn't venture down the trail from my point of view i didn't see anything down the first little bit of ned's.

Thanks for the saw work! The other tree's were 100-200 meters down Ned's. The remaining tree on Mushroom was across the trail, quite large. Not sure if it's the same your referring too. (Haven't been back up there since Wednesday, so not sure of current status)

The downed trees at the top of Ned's have been cleared.

I was just up there a couple hours ago (evening of January 20th) - there are 2 tree's still down on the top of neds, and one tree down between the start of dale's and ned's. (or before Dale's.. it was dark, not paying attention)
