Insurance

Northman insurance is awesome! They can cover you for that. And it's run by a few dudes from Ottawa who mountain bike and do rad stuff outdoors! They can cover up to $5000 I believe.

Dirtiest Oil on Earth

It's also pretty dumb to say China's polluted because of all the "cheap wal-mart crap".

Most of our expensive, quality items are made there (and recycled/disposed of/incinerated there) too. Zomg 5000 dollar mountain bikes that would cost 50 000 dollars if there was no polluted China. They want our bitumen so we may as well give it to them, it's only fair.

But can't we find a better way to give it to them? The northern gateway pipeline ends in one of the most pristine parts of the planet and something is bound to fuck up eventually. That part of BC should be protected.

Alex Pro?

I've seen him up in Whistler (don't know him but recognized him). I believe he now leads a non public life. He still shreds pretty hard.

He has definitely lost more than most of the rioters, plead guilty, and accepted the punishment.

Story is kind of over. This will only be a thread of people repeating previously stated sentiments. No one will argue that he didn't fuck up, so saying why or how you think he fucked up is pretty useless, and you're probably only repeating something you have already said in a previous thread.

Yep, rioters piss me off just as much as everyone else but Alex is a good friend of mine. We all do dumb shit when were drunk and he's lost way more than most of the rioters. One shitty mistake with some huge consequences. He's still out there shredding and working hard, just keeping things low key. Time to get over it everyone.

Freeride

I'll give my thoughts from the perspective of someone who grew up in the North Shore freeride era and does some slopestyle contests now.
Freeride has not died it just has evolved. Riders are getting smoother and huge stuff doesn't look so huge anymore. Slopestyle is the ultimate progression. Most courses these days are gnarlier than anything people rode 10 years ago, its just more controlled. I remember hucking what I thought were huge cliffs when I was 14, they are now the size of small features on courses today. All the dirt jump tricks make people see it as bmxing on the mountain, but outside of a contest setting its it's still freeride imo

Gun appreciation day

when some retard runs a red light and kills someone in another car, do you blame cars for the accident?

are cars made to kill things?

Shore Night Rides

Sometimes frozen conditions are actually very grippy. Hard to predict though.

Yep, love grippy frozen trails! I don't have much experience riding wood stunts in the freezing cold though I imagine it could be pretty slick.

Our Final Trail Day on Expresso: Sunday, Nov 18. Last chance to win a fork!

Lots of people were killing it today! I found a little gold mine of dirt for like half an hour before lunch and people were bringing buckets non stop. It was crazy seeing that much get done in one day.
I've never been to a trail day before with that many people, but to be fair it was my first NSMB trail day haha… still awesome to see.
Thanks to everyone for coming out!
