the biggest mistake in mountain biking....

Going Underground and "the public want what the public get" seems appropos.

Your work and Rob's were treated shamefully and with utmost disrespect by those who came later who had short or no memories. I'm truly sorry that happened. Thanks for the hundreds if not thousands of hours you put into the trails. If there's a silver lining your lawn now does look magnificent

the biggest mistake in mountain biking....

Sorry if this is a dumb question that has already been discussed, but why does Squamish not have this problem? Why is the riding in Squamish so damn good?

I haven't ridden there enough, haven't even scratched the surface to be honest. But every time I go there I am amazed how awesome it is. For any and all types of rider, the variety of trails and diversity of terrain is impressive. What do they have that we don't? Is it a land jurisdiction issue?

Squamish and Whistler have riders who don't always agree but generally work together. North van is unique in having a trail organization who employed an egomaniacal program director paid fulltimer who actively works against other builders. Plus then a weak board of directors who lets egomaniac do what he wants. So everything official is made in one way. And anything unofficial is kept underground and off the map and called rogue.

Kram and slynx you have it good in Squampton. Flip Whistler is paradise. A few game cams to catch rogue builders ain't no big deal when you have to deal with Watchmen blackshirted wannabe trailbosses down here

Fixed this for you to reflect the reality of the North Van drama

Can't we have new discussions on this site. Seems like a bad movie with a hundred shitty sequels repeating the same story lines.

My take: It doesn't matter.
People will walk into the woods and build trails they desire. Yup, they might get shut down, and yes "Mark Wood" might make an example of you. The hardest trails tend to be built by those who have a vision and a dream. "Mark Wood" does not have that. I also teach my son that "Mark Wood" hates independent volunteerism.

Therefore the NSMBA you're either with us or against us spiel. And anyone who's not a WATCHMEN is a rogue

Lucky for us all woodie seems to be doing is leaving nasty voice mails. Oh hurt feelings

Even if the trails that experts generally couldn't care less about get all the cash, the least the other camp can do is let us continue to build what we want for free (and leave our existing trails free from machine influence), especially since we are the more environmentally sustainable of the bunch. To coin a phrase I hear a bit lately; "if you don't like it, don't ride it."

This is happening in North Van too but the masses want the gold trails (that are ironically falling apart in dust now) and the masses will get what they want. Meanwhile anyone who builds outside the NSMBA Watchmen junta are derisively referred to as "Rogues" building unsanctioned and the NSMBA has no problem punching climbing trails through what were useable old trails. But hey, those were just unsanctioned loamers so who cares right?

But oh yeah go to Townhalls or talk to the directors and all will be well - right right?

Trail Thank You Thread

Boogie is one of my all-time favs as well. Someone called "Bear" (I think) used to maintain it in the ol' days. Hadn't ridden it in years until a few weeks ago. The work on it now is really nice. Thanks to everyone for putting in the time and effort.

Bear/Greg originally. Then PD, Michelle, Syncro and latest is dkl who's honoured the vision of the trail. Respect

so metro won't entertain new trails until old trails are brought up to 'standard' but won't authorize work on old trails…….so what's the deal? those minutes don't really say anything, nor has anyone really covered why they won't authorize the work.

An educated guess is that Metro will machine CBC just like they plan to machine Upper Dales and possibly TNT.

Dale's fate to become gentrified flow for the masses was sealed when it became the access for Forever After. Adios Dales. I'm sure the new Dulls will be popular and isn't that what its all about?

Thank you for weighing in/keeping everyone informed Rachid/NSMBA.

Would Pipeline, Boundary, and Lower Crippler also be on that list? My understanding is that each of those trails also has a dedicated trail adopter/gnome working on it?

Cheers,

All these trails also have separate maintenance gnomes/trailfairies

Fromme

- Squeaky Elbow
- Pipeline
- Executioner
- Upper and Lower Crippler

Seymour

- Upper and Lower CBuster
- Shorn Scrotum
- RidgeRunner
- Asian Adonis
- Greenland

Cypress

- All the trails

Hasn't grown is 1 thing but not even being maintained is the other . Kinda weird how most of you seem ok with how things are going , guess that's how it is the way it is if that's the popular sentiment .

And my point about the maps is yes the trails are on there but 50% of them are F ' d .

If you want my idea I think we should crowd source funding for specific trail work one by one. should be pretty easy to let people vote on order of importance with a simple poll . This trail is f ' d quote is roughly 8 k to fix or whatever it is and try to fund It that way . At least people would know specifically where their money was going when it's donated and actually see the results of it and a proper time line for work to be done , just like any construction job .

anyways I just posted originally as a discussion if you don't ask questions things stay status quo.

Can crowdsource also through trailforks. Its being used by the FVMBA. Nothing to stop it being used on the Shore

Kudos to NSMBA for Circuit 8 work

I would gladly do it but with out the training at the academy i am woefully under educated on how to build and maintain trails. (sarcasm)

Without the academy we are nothing. Unless you're Shore Corps you don't know shit. It was told to us by the NSMBA scripture so it must be true

But yeah nice work on Circuit 8

trailbuilder to strava user

People have been posting about riding in BC parks for years (Manning anyone? w/photos to boot). Stop blaming the app, start blaming the people using it. That's like saying it's the guns fault for pulling the trigger.

Peace out? Stay out mang.

See why i bother? It's all about King of PENIS. NSMB - where the turds gather.
