Keronite

The original application of the PEO process was as an anti-corrosion, anti-gall coating intended for aluminum and magnesium, and is usually top-coated afterward. Not widely used in aviation yet, as it is not widely certified as a acceptable aftermarket repair process, but probably will be in the future. It will most likely replace the standard Rockhard process for magnesium helicopter/turbine engine gearboxes and compressor cases, as corrosion is a huge life issue. It is used in place of anodizing in certain applications as well. I work in the (aviation) industry and I think Rockshox is taking some creative liberties, obviously. They probably thought saying it was used by NASA or on the new fighters was too over the top but in actuality, it probably is more widely used there lol! If you believe the literature it can make the surface of aluminum and magnesium harder than steel. And it's cheaper than anodizing!?! Imagine the possibilities:-)

One of these showed up on our doorstep the other day and I just figured it was a custom finish. It may look white in some of the photos but it's more of a putty colour.

It turns out it's something more special than that.

Nice ride. What is the song at the beginning?

Hey,

It's Disillusion by Badly Drawn Boy. He's kind of a nut but really interesting character…plays all the instruments and mixes himself.

…and regarding the seatpost, Dre would snap his legs at the knees on the uphills with it any lower. He is is a Moose! Some of us still remember candidly how easily he disposed of us many years ago, on the trail AND on the road;-) Still kicking and having fun…some of us old timers don't have hours to piss away at photo editing, we just want to rip and report back:-)

With my 2011 I have 1-2 clicks of coil preload (basically nothing), no air assist, and about 8 turns of LS/HS compression. I'm using all of my travel, but with good support when on the brakes or doddling over slow rough stuff. I'm about 185bs (maybe 190lbs loaded), and this nets me about 25% sag, maybe closer 30% if i'm right over the bars in an attack position.

Nah I'm from Nanaimo with a few solid Calgary winters and California summers, so I'm a tough boy, flame away;-)

I missed -a lot- of lines…There are so many cool ways to ride these trails. I spent a good amount of time Sunday just sessioning sections I missed, good times! I can't wait to explore more!

…Lots of time on Santa Barbara trails over the last few years, and if there is one thing to learn from them (Tunnel for example)…speed is your friend when rocks are involved…

I know I love it! I'm always up for a good soaking or yard sale. Mind you I don't get up as fast as I one did!

totally chawesome!

i was most impressed with the one hand on the uphill section on ladies. i'm usually torque-ing the bars pretty good to try and make it up there.

All that crotch grabbing is to that blasted adjusty post. And I was hurting…the second time down I was hurting much more, but I did make better line choices. However, hitting the record button usually works.

Today looks like a gooder as well!

Hi there, long time lurker (years!), first time poster. Islander now beached on the Mainland.

Anyway, I had a fantastic day on Fromme Thursday. A little Ladies, BP, and Natural High. First time with a chest mount, pointed a little low, sorry about that! Nothing exciting just good XC action on a beautiful warm day…
