Why is Tri-flow a bad chain lube? I was always under the impression it was a good chain lubricant. I have used it, it can get goopy if too much is used, but it seems fine if applied properly. My go-to is that dry wax stuff from Muc-off.

Andrew, is the original Cool Tool still valid in these days of changing standards? I have one in mint condish that I'm considering tossing back in my kit.

It's my thought that there aren't that many trail builders with a surplus $5k (more or less) to spend on a e-bike and still buy/maintain their equipment. The bikes in the article were likely gifted to the trail associations...doesn't a certain Santa Cruz marketing director live in Whistler? But heck, if someone tossed me a free e-mtb for trail work I wouldn't say no either!

My first thought when e-bikes started being a thing was "how great they would be to assist the trail builders." I have learned since having assisted a grumpy trail builder or two that they are not welcome no matter how they are used-at least by the grumpy trail building community. Plus I don't how they'd be useful for anything other than dropping tools off at the top. Most of the trails I've helped with can't be ridden up...the pretty pictures look good though!

at 53 sec. is the Millennium Log on CBC trail, Seymour. This is a sanctioned trail we can freely talk about. The other one is, who gives a fuck? Its appears to be unsanctioned and should be chopped the fuck down. It makes the legitimate builders look bad and it's probably in an area it shouldn't be. BTW, someone might find a bunch of stuff on Seymour if they start scouting where there are no mapped trails.

I strongly oppose pay parking for parks of any kind and will certainly be parking where I legally can outside the gates if it come to this. I hate being nickel and dimed to death with user fees of all kinds. As a wage earner and home owner I already pay taxes at every level of government and expect that will include the maintenance of basic park facilities.

PhD is a great trail! We've ridden it for years and only seen people on it a couple times. I'm confused however, why can we talk openly about this mapped trail but as soon as someone mentions a shore trail poop hits fan? Vis a vie the Shore Climbing thread. Bit of a double standard? Please set me straight minions of the NSMB.

I like Triflo. It's not a specialist lube but more of an all-rounder.

^^Where did the stem break? Do you have any pics by chance? I'm going to take a good look at mine since its 2x older than the one you broke.

60mm would be going on a heavier all mountain build to be used on local trails (north van/squamish) with, maybe, 10 days in the park. Light and nice looking but would this stem be up to task or should I be looking at something else? Other choices I've considered so far are NSB overlord and the usual Thompson.

I have been running a Ranger 50mm for the last 4+ years, first on my Knolly Delirium and now on my Chilcotin. To be honest I can't tell the difference between it and the Thompson it replaced in terms of stiffness, quality etc. but Chromag stuff is really nicely finished and that has held up well over the time I've had it. Plus its nice to support a local company! :)

I used to run Highrollers and they felt slow when pedaling/climbing. I have been running DHF's front and rear for a while now and I feel they roll more efficiently. I suppose there are arguments to made for traction differences but I think the DHF's offer the best of both worlds.

My experience is with the 26" versions
