Whistler 2013 Bike Park Conditions

Anyone who's ridden Top of the World care to comment on how difficult it is? Whistler has rated it an advanced level ride but the video I've seen of it looks more like intermediate ride.

Words to the wise: Ride with a buddy

I have PLB that I used for backcountry skiing, but now thinking it may be a good idea to pack it when I'm solo out on the mtb as well. Being retired, a lot of my rides are solo mid-day mid-week. Not a lot of people on the trails during the work week.

I always use a check-in [HTML_REMOVED] check-out routine to let my family know where I'm going [HTML_REMOVED] check back in when I'm done.

enduro evo man enough for whistler?

You'll probably be fine on the Enduro evo at the bike park if you're only going 5-6x a season. But if you plan to ride more [HTML_REMOVED] want to really get the most enjoyment outta the bike park, then go for a full DH rig. An all mtn rig just doesn't have the same construction or geo or suspension. Take your Enduro to the park [HTML_REMOVED] then rent/borrow a DH bike to compare then you'll know exactly what I mean. Not to mention, I sure as hell wouldn't want to be beating up my all mtn bike in the park. It just isn't built to take that kind of abuse on a daily basis.

Whistler 2013 Bike Park Conditions

I know there's still a lotta snow up top, but when does the Garbo zone typically open?

Whistler 2013 Bike Park Conditions

Finally made it up there today. It was busy but manageable. Conditions were awesome. Nice [HTML_REMOVED] tacky but some of the trails were already starting to show some wear from all the traffic over the weekend.

Trail Map App for the North Shore

Not meaning to hijack this thread. But for those techy types who want to play. There is a new smartphone app called Runtastic. There's a free version available for iOS [HTML_REMOVED] android which has some pretty kool gps tracking capabilities. One of the awesome features is the mapping where you can access your tracks which you upload to their website/ If you click on the map [HTML_REMOVED] access one of the trail layers (OSM or something like that). It will show you the trail map for the area with your GPS tracks overlaid overtop. Very kool. Of course bear in mind smartphone GPS is not as accurate as true dedicated GPS. See screehshot from my ride last nite overlaid onto trail map via Runtastic

Washing a Camelbak, the actual pack...

Check out your local pet supply store and look for Nature's Miracle stain/odour remover. I find that just washing w laundry soap doesnt always fully get the odor out. You can probably machine wash but I prefer to soak [HTML_REMOVED] handwash

WBP Expanding in 2013?

Aha! The bastards are gouging us just so they can line their filthy pockets by expanding the bike park! [sarcasm].

Watch the bike park ticket prices start rising with each expansion phase. It might be to the point where it rivals the winter season prices. Not to mention the number of riders that will also be on the increase. Expansion may not necessarily be a good thing for the riders
