What Cam said! I lurk here periodically. And I read about the drama. And most of the time it generally leaves a bad taste in my mouth about this board. And just when I think it couldn't get any worse you go and do something like this…… And totally redeem yourself! I don't have any drama where I live but I also only have 1/10,000th of the ridership of the lower mainland, so I can't relate. If you want gnar, go look for it. It's everywhere. You want to bitch, get involved.

Merritt has better riding than Kamloops. There. I said it. Have any of y'all ripped any iron laps? And my wife is a stone cold smoke show. Merritt born and raised (save 5 years at UBC for her Pharmacy degree). Don't let your preconceived misconceptions about lil old Merritt fool you. I wouldn't live anywhere else. Rad Biking, endless Moto, so much fishing, world class hunting, epic sledding and ski touring 20 mins up the coq, and little to no big city douche bag attitudes. Full on blue collar working class goodness. It's great, except for the asshole coasties that come up in the fall in droves and stir up our deer with their piss poor shots.

Not too sure what has blowdown currently. Almost everything was cleared out early season but we get strong winds here. Everything will be lined in tall grass and definitely potential for thick seasonal brush. Use trail forks as a guide. I've helped get all our trails updated on there. It's pretty darn accurate now. Enjoy.

I don't know where upper resurrection came from. It's called Heroic Doses. The bottom half is called lost boys from the quad trail/powerline down. Over all we just call it heroic. Rotary needs an exit built. Has for years. I haven't found the time. Otherwise it's a really fun, steep trail. Just have to hump your bike a bit at the bottom. I can't comment as to blow down status.

As an FYI we have a forest fire closing in towards the top of the info trails as of last night. It's a ways off right now and generally the prevailing winds blow away from it but it was moving uphill in a south westerly direction last night.

It was probably some douche bag that threw a butt out the window on the old Hamilton hill road that parallels the coq connector.

Hey bud. There is no real way to the top of iron via fox farm Rd without getting very lost. Your best bet is to either shuttle from the very top via comstock rd on the coq or to strictly ride the (all mtn) info trails up from info centre. There is a trail (unmarked) that traverses from too much info thru the grasslands into upper godey. From there you could pedal/push up godey (left) to the road (go down it) and pick one of a few steep options back into godey. Your best bet for a bottom vehicle shuttle drop is on the west side of the coq. Your ride will end thru a culvert under the freeway. I'm away at work or i would show you around. Try the Merritt mountain biking Facebook page for potential riding buddies. It's a big mountain with lots of fun trails. A local guide would be best.

Maybe they meant Upper Revival. It runs from the top, down into Chrispys Connection and into 99 about halfway down. Mid revival (the log yard) starts about 20 meters from the 99/Chrispys junction. Mid Revival is old school, but relatively new. Skinnies. Drops. Gaps. Wood. I like it (although I'm partial as I built it). From there you can tie back into choke whistle/lower treats/the tyrant. (Tyrant is nutty. 20' high log rides etc). 98 proper off the north tower is fun, down into Bunker Berms/upper Godey. Off the south tower you can ride Heroic Doses into Lost Boys. It's a fun late evening ride as the sun sets on that exposure.

Thanks to everyone who came out to clear blowdown on Iron in early May. Big group of out-of-towners made the trip to Merritt to get the trails ready for the year. I was in Nicaragua at the time and a huge crew drove up and cleared approx 250 trees from half a dozen different trails. Huge props to all that came up. You know who you are. The map is strictly for the info area. We (the mtn bike club) are going to release a map for Iron next year I think. We are using this first map as a pilot project. The iron trails haven't changed much since the old map was released other than new additions. You'll have to keep your eyes open for intersections. I have put up loads if signage the last couple years which will help with navigation. Try the merritt mountain biking facebook page for a possible guide up there.
