So fun!

It was cut out on Tuesday evening. 1st lap up the tree was alive and it was still out of the way, so it had not fallen and become an obsticle. On the 2nd lap up I passed a group of 6 at that tree as it was being moved after being cut. I recognize the riders and I would suspect they will come forward and PM you Penny, as they are all frequent riders on the shore.

I believe there intentions were to help and simply did not realize this was a feature.

Personally I had seen the tree as Penny and Martin had intended, as a trail feature. I can only imagine many riders inocently took it as something that needed to be fixed…

Misplaced good intentions…..

Maybe I am missing something here.

Am I wrong in my understanding that ~95% of the trail is still there and just the beginning of the trail is being taken out for this parking lot?

Sad to see the log ride and teeter go, but really not the end of the world that it is being made out to be in this thread.

2 separate sections with logs across Grannies (chainsaw needed) both close to the top, before the Crippler junction. On Crippler, log across the trail about 1/2 way down, shortly after the long steep section.

Today (19th) branches on the trail for the first 200m then nothing.

Cleared them and threw them as far as possible from the trail.

I wonder if people ride the trail less in the wet and thats why there were less reports here on the board for the last few months and with the nice weather in the last week the trail has gotten more traffic…

Side note on setup…

I inflate the new tire on the rim without sealant, get it to pop onto the bead. Then use the Stans injector syringe to get the sealant into the tire through the valve stem. I found the scoop method a little more awkward to get the tire back on the rim with the goop sloshing around in the tire.

Plus the syringe injector works great if you need to top up the sealant when the tire has been on for a while.

If hesitant to switch, start with just the rear tire.

When I first went tubeless I tried out just the rear for a few months, then when the front tire needed replacing I decided to do the same on it, as I was impressed with the rear.

WTB Vigilantes (AM/TCS) - which look surprisingly good. No idea how tight fitting this combo is. I guess we'll see.

Think they don't work on Stans because they are too tight to get on their rims. Awesome looking tire if they match your rim though!

too bad schwalbe tread only lasts about a month before it's shredded.

The schwalbe trail-star holds up really well and is still solid in the wet. Imagine their vert-star is similar to maxxis super tacky for softness and with any soft rubber it will get eaten up quickly. Especially if you are ripping down the granite!

The baden stage was always the least enjoyable for myself and the group that I was doing the races with. Plus it being a hiking primary trail I figure it has the highest potential to piss off the local hikers. So maybe not worth racing on.

Ladies Only as a leg always scared away my wife and her friends from those race days.

Would take extra volunteers, but what about a just girls course? The women my wife rides with would certainly enjoy that, less of the ripping dude on your heals feeling and a great chance to meet other girls who ride the shore. Like the ladies pre ride, (which she enjoyed) but obviously a dedicated race day. maybe even on a different day?

More races that include 7th, it is ideal for racing, everyone knows it - rides it and it opens up to lots of 2nd stage options.

Duplicating trail stages on later races would be fine, I don't think it needs to be unique every time.

I wonder if it would be worth while for the NSMBA to file a police report? Then when the person is identified a visit from the RCMP might get their attention.

As there is certainly the possibility for someone to get injured with a log/rock at the bottom of a semi blind decent.

I switched to tubeless a year a go and absolutely love it. Around 150 rides and only one flat, rock slice on an older tire, required a tube to finish the ride. No burps, I ride at 23- 25 psi. I have used minion and hans dampf on Stans Flow rims.

Wider rims will help prevent burps.

Sealant weighs less than a tube, so some weight savings there.

Some tire / rim combos seat up better than others. Seen issues with Continental tires and I believe WTB does not work on Stans rims.

One caution, if the tire rim combo you have is more prone to burping it is dangerous to have it on the front tire, as a burped tire will stop you dead (superman), where as a burped rear is not as big of a deal.
