The Big Stupid (Fromme)

big stupid is the wrong name for the trail, it's actually skull or upper skull as a lot of people say seeing as the trail is split by the BP. trailforks has the name wrong for some reason.

The trail was renamed Big Stupid when Digger redid that section of trail, coinciding with the DNV's signage project in 2011. It makes sense to me because this section of trail doesn't actually end at the top of (Lower) Skull. While it was often called Upper Skull by locals, was the trail actually on a map with that name? Asking because I simply can't recall.

What do you carry to remove tight tubeless and procore Presta valve locknuts?

Wait what? Folding spoke?

Definitely lighter than the seven spokes inside my seat post!

What gear ratio are you running?

With the 42 tooth cassette, if you want the same low gear as a 24/36, you need to have a 28 tooth chainring.

The 9-tooth jump on the Shimano 11-46 is huge, but if it's just your Old Buck bailout gear, maybe you think that's OK!

2016 SRAM X01 Trigger Shifter Assembly

No, sorry, I don't even recognize it. But if you can get the shifter back together without it, you should be able to figure out which function is not working without it in there.

Got into the Dropbox and, yep, same thing that I did. You could actually hear the sound of angels rejoicing when we got it back together (I enlisted help, two brains worked better than one!).

2016 SRAM X01 Trigger Shifter Assembly

I accidentally took the wrong side off my X01 shifter a couple months ago. It took me more than an hour to get it back together, so stressful! Dropbox isn't working for me right now but I assume it's the same problem. Good luck!

Highway 1 / Lower Lynn Improvements - Public Info Sessions

This topic is actually completely relevant to our lives, as we've recently moved back to Lynn Valley and plan to stay for the long term. We rarely use our car, and travel through this area regularly. The cycling infrastructure is sporadic to say the least, and we will be at these meetings to find out what the specific plans around cycling are with the project.

You couldn't build a vehicle crosssing at Seymour at the top of Riverside unless you went high up. It's a friggin cliff on the west side and would serve no purpose. Is Canyon Creek just at the top of Riverside Drive?

Right now it's a metre-wide wooden bridge crossing the creek that goes right next to the last house at the top of Riverside.

It looks like this also means they'd be restoring the closed section of Fisherman's on the east side of the river, and hopefully our access to Bottletop! The vehicle bridge at the north end of Riverside would indeed not cross the Seymour River, but simply allow access to the east side of the new pedestrian bridge.

Looking For A Good CX Tire For Very Wet Grass And Mud

I'm sure it's time for some big tires now that you've gone flat bar. Nano 40s?

Home made drying system

Call me a peasant, but that octopus-looking thing from Canadian Tire is doing awesome for us with full time bike commuting this winter. I could procrastinate making my own for more than one season…

The dog is enjoying the snow as much as you probably do. Great! And great and inspiring reading about your Yosemite trip over on TheRadavist.

Honestly, he enjoys it even more than I do. He goes nuts whenever we go out in the snow. It's been a good winter for him!

Thanks re: the story… it was Yellowstone. We want to go to Yosemite though! National parks are so rad.

If You Put A Flat Bar On A CX Bike Does That Make It 29er???

I wish they made bars wider than 46. Coming from a Mtb back ground I find them way way too narrow.

Flare really helps make drops "fit" wider. Salsa Woodchipper and Cowchipper, Ritchey VentureMax, Easton AX, etc.

Or the Crust leather bar at 66.6cm…
