Hopefully Ballard figures it out- it looks like Gillis and Vignault are counting on it.

rights to Christian Ehrhoff traded to NYI for 4th round pick

Interesting development… I have a hard time seeing Ehrhoff getting his market value in Vancouver; the internal cap set by the Sedins' contract is pretty low.

I'm not so much talking about NSMB in particular. I remember browsing the Canucks HFBoards at the end of last season and people were pretty adamant about getting rid of him. Didn't seem like there were many people who wanted him around

Yeah, I could see that. I was going by what my hockey buddies were saying as well as what commentators were saying.

That's up to him to break that contract right?

Yeah, Gillis has said all along he will not break/re-negotiate a contract.

So I imagine this city's opinion of Bieksa has gone a full 180 degrees huh? I remember everyone calling for his head at the beginning of this season

I don't know about calling for his head, I remember most of us expected a better season and a lot of people thinking he was going to get traded as he was the only D-man of consequence without a no-trade clause.

Luongo

Being the top line for the Canucks means they take a alot of shit and abuse both off and on the ice.

Luongo

I don't imagine he would in the near future; he is on a good team that went to game seven of the Stanley Cup final. Eventually if/when the teams fortunes head south he may opt to get traded- he strikes me as that kind of guy.

Luongo is a good goalie that struggles with coming up with the big save at the right time… and has the additional misfortune of being unlikeable.

As far as the Canucks loosing in the final… the team as a whole looked completely baffled out there. Whatever they did either Thomas or the Boston D had an answer for. Vancouver had all it's puck-luck in the two middle rounds and none when they needed it most- in the final. Had Vancouver scored first I think that game would have turned out completely different.

depends on the Eastern outcome. if Boston wraps it up tonight I imagine then the would start on Sunday. 2nd game on Tuesday the 31st and the series would be done by the 11th even it does go to 7 games.

don't wanna get ahead of ourselves , but let's pretend the canucks did go on to the final . . . from what i saw in the boston / tampa bay game , history could be made .

i was not impressed with either team , but then i only watched the second period of one game . anyone else have other insights ?

I agree; the best teams are in the west. TB looks weak defensively and Boston looks slow. On the one hand I would like to see Thomas vs. The Sedins; he is so unorthodox and so far out of his net, with the Sedins being strong down low it seems to me they could really exploite that. On the other hand, I wonder how the Cnaucks would break through Tampa's 1-3-1 game; it seems like speedsters such as Raymond, Hansen and kesler could give TB fits on the dump-and-chase.

It's hard sometimes to have the person just sit down and stop moving so they can be assessed.

Oh absolutely- by the time first aid was able to get there he was already up. My wife and I were trying to get him to hold still and stay down but he was completely out of it and fighting us trying to get up.

He was moving by his own power and was taken to the hospital by a friend.

Yeah, but he shouldn't have been. When he came to he started thrashing around and judging by what he was trying to say he still thought he was on his bike. He was really lucky to get away with a broken hand and dislocated finger. You are right about the leatt brace- the way his head hit the tree he is a prime candidate for a compression fracture and/or subdural hematoma.

The adult beginner that crashed earlier was in worse shape initially; he was face down, unconscous making gurgling noises for about a minute before he came to. He's the guy I am worried about.
