My "Source" brand bladder has no plastic taste. MEC sells these. My Camelback brand bladder's plastic taste has never gone away. I put a slice of lemon or lime in to cover up the taste.
I bought a new camelback and put my Source bladder in it. For some reason, its been the best one I've ever used. Doesn't go mouldy either.
I already have a highly recommended mechanic outside the dealership lined up. No way Im going to have it serviced at the dealership. I have also subscribed to as many Audi user forums as I can find :) I am a DIY guy to a certain degree for sure, but some things should definitely still be left to the pros.
First issue - the 5 year old NAV/Stereo system WONT recognize SDHC cards?!?! It does fine with plain old SD cards. Anyone got any 2 or 4gb SD cards lying around? :)
That's one thing Audi never kept up with, IMO, was sound systems. My 02 had a frickin cassette deck in it. WTF?! In the new millennia?
I actually might have some old SD cards around I'd donate as a former brother or the four rings.
Wife and I just picked up a 2007 A4 Avant (3.2 6MT). It was dealer maintained and has low KM, so we will see how it goes. I think you definitely pay to play in this case. This car drives head and shoulders above the subarus I have tried, not to mention the fit and finish. Keeping my fingers crossed nothing goes to far wrong with it, cuz it is by far one of the best cars I have ever driven.
I agree. I've never driven a car that was so well sorted. Fit and finish on the interiors is second to none and they are so smooth on the highway. Treat her well and hopefully she does the same for you. But you're also right that you have to pay to play with those cars. Try to find a good mechanic outside the dealership or get on the forums if you're a DIY kind of guy. You'll save a fortune. The Bentley manuals are also a huge benefit. Find someone who has one or a forum where you can get access to info from one. They saved me a bit of $ out of warranty.
Since were on the Audi topic here, anyone have first hand experience owning one? I been looking around at 06-ish Audi's but there seems to be mixed opinions on the reliability front, and some scary engine sludge issues.
Anyone have experience?
I had a '02 A4 Avant. Absolutely loved that car, but it was a maintenance nightmare. At least every year I had a major mechanical which was fine while under warranty, but frightened me to own it long term. Lots of little problems too. They are well designed, but I would argue over-engineered. After 5 years, I traded her in on a Subie and now own 2 Subies with zero issues for 6 and 3 years each.
I don't think I ever loved and hated a car so much as that Avant.
I personally like the Bay's West End room, the guys there are pretty knowledgeable and the stuff they sell fits well, the strellson and Canadian made stuff they have is nice and their sales are good if you get the timing right.
But I thought it was called the Hudson Room? Either way, solid quality and hit it on a sale and you're good to go. Bought several Strellson suits there and even some of their house brand suits were decent (I think they it was the Gianni Fillaci brand?)
Most recent suit purchase was at Banana Republic. If you get in on a 40% off sale its a pretty good buy.
If you want to have a more performance oriented tire, check out the Dunlop Wintersport M3s. Great winter tire, good traction in cooler temperatures, shed water really well. Great tire for Vancouver winters in my opinion.
