Ryan here (author of this piece). This is a valid point and I do think approvals vary by region and land manager discretion. BC's trail policy has been all over the map (pun intended). Over the years we've gone from resistance to acceptance to approvals to provincial MTB trail tourism/promotion. That said, trail approval is always a moving target and changing. Recently, there seems to be more resistance again, concern about trail density, and more resistance from First Nations in the absence of BC getting its act together regarding treaties. As a volunteer trail builder, the process and wait are a barrier but can be overcome. Key is to work with you local trail society, of course.

Good one Wade. Couple notes on Billy's story: great adventure on the 7 Summits buddy! It's more enjoyable to take the Adrenaline Adventures shuttle to the north trailhead as 20 k of highway is not good mountain biking in my opinion. Or, ride north and then south on the 7 Summits. And whatever you do, don't ride down the Old Glory trail (unless you have to) to the highway as it's an old horse pack trail and badly eroded. Take the recently buffed Plewman trail if you need to bail early or are looking for a shorter option. I[HTML_REMOVED]#8217;ll say hi to the bears for ya.

Seriously - Mountain Biking poses some clear challenges for photographers as they often work in low light situations. Many photographers use complex remote flash set-ups to capture sharp but often unrealistic images. What do you think about the heavy use of flashes and what are some of the techniques you employ to make the most of available light?
