Sunday traffic?

Thinking of heading up for the day - but… Will I find myself in traffic armageddon leaving whis at the end of the day due to the long weekend. I live in Squamish.
I was in pemby on friday, and on my drive home to squamish at the end of the day the gridlock heading into whistler looked insane.

Thoughts?

Squamish Alert *Ticks*

My dog is a f-in tick magnet.
And he has not had any for awhile now.
Can't say you are safe, but based on a 1 dog test subject, taken to tickville nearly everyday, things look good.

Why Do Companies Use Unsanctioned Trails To Sell Product?

I build a few trails in the sts.
I am delightfully surprised about how often I will get a random call or e-mail asking for permission to shoot something I have built. I never say no.
I have also noticed of late, some videos will also give credit to the builders. That is something I really cherish. The builders are a creative bunch, and should get acknowledgement and credit for their work. Even if it is a simply a shout out in the credits at the end (that no one reads).

As far as "fresh" trails. I know there is a gold-rush mentality. First shot of a new zone gets the most attention. So I understand the desire to try the latest flavour of ice cream. On that note, I also love it when an old classic gets re-shot by a talented photog/video with a stellar rider. There was a video of Sid riding upper powersmart recently that had me thinking it was the rawest most awesome video in a while (and that trail was presumed dead and done).

Finally, most of my friends play the video/photog gig, so I give them first dibs. I am getting old, and its the only way I can get them to still ride with me. :)

Test of Metal - late start and avoid all the schmucks?

Maybe ask Julie Miller - I am sure she has a few tricks to avoid the bottlenecks.

Squamish Housing Prices

I blame the trail builders.
They make all these BC towns desirable places to live.

f-in trail builders!

WB Clamps Down on Trails not in the Bike Park

Apparently the new rule of loam club is spray about poaching loudly and proudly on any and all social media…shameless, but at least my list of people to not tell about certain trails is getting nice and long.

Can't rep you! Damn.
But this is crazy true. How to blow wind on an ember to create a firestorm.
So simple to realise that no one cares that you are part of the loam club. Just enjoy it, chat around beers about mishaps, and realise that your FB/insta/strava brand is not selling anything. Turn down the broadcast from time to time.

Kid's knee pads

W/B squamish clearance store has kids pads on sale.
I picked some up from there recently. Worth checking out, if looking for a deal.
They are Race Face.

"Asshole" in Pickup Truck (Shuttler)

Ha!
Everything about that post sounds like me. Except the glasses and I look f-in old.
White truck, trails in an area frequented by trials riders. Eeks.
Then I remembered - I don't shuttle and rarely ride with more than two other people.
Wasn't me.

Squamish Alert *Ticks*

The area between Gouranga and icy hole is really bad.
I have taken 10+ ticks off my dog regularly when hanging out in that zone.
He is a white dog, so is doomed.
Ticks are attracted to bright colours.

Sorry enduro-fashionista's but your colour choices are going to get you ticked.

recommend me a summer camp for kids...

Sending little man to this camp this summer.
https://evanslake.com/

Have been sending him to Camp Summit for last 4 years.
However, I think camps should have a lake or ocean. So that is the reason for the change.

When he is older will probably send him to Strathcona Park Lodge https://strathconaparklodge.com/

Test of Metal now takes almost 2 weeks to sell out!

Rumour has it that all the spandex left Squamish and is now moving to Whistler to ride and race.
