I have these shoes and am quite pleased with them. I was out in a monsoon on sunday however and they get saturated but not too heavy even if the fit did loosen a bit.

Previously had the contacts from the previous model year and found the grip quite poor. Impacts are better for shore riding IMO and a better fit. I might dedicate my contacts for bad weather rides in the future.

I think Alan has a point. Part of what makes MTB great is that we can ride through nature as it is. Certainly in places like Cypress and Cumberland you often get a tour of industry impact but  it's always important to promote sustainable trail building. To lose that would diminish the sport for all of us.  That and Alan worked tirelessly to try to preserve trails on Cypress. I would think he'd get more respect on these boards than to be shut down the way you did. Just my 2c.

I ride a warden and have demoed an Endo. My wife went for the endo.

The asta on the endo is steeper than on the warden. For me it makes for a tighter cockpit. I didn't relate to Pete's comments about the saddle position when climbing. I think it's pretty good. I would mention the warden design is 5 years old. Pete might be comparing it to more recent longer lower models like the Nomad?  I'm not an mtb historian but might say that knolly has been placing there bb well back of the seat tube intersection for a while.  

One observation I would make is how the front triangle on the carbon is better suited for a water bottle. And how the fugitives front triangle is the same in that regards.  A change I suspect is coming to more of Noels bikes over the next few years.

Good article Dave. Thanks. I agree and I think the point is more about scrutinizing the NRA and how they operate. Any conversation about how to make people safer gets turned into one about broad strokes gun control and violation of the 2nd amendment when all that needs to be discussed really is how to ensure those who have access to guns aren't dangerous to other people. An idea the NRA should support but always manages to kill whenever it gets brought up.

Moving forward, I too will vote with my dollars.

this hobby is expensive but not like hobby helicopters, light planes or even track racers. I think part of what I like is that it's attainable for many of us who try to manage a family and mortgage at the same time. Any full time working dude/dudette shouldn't feel guilty about dropping $X every few years especially considering what we get out of it

Sorry you had a bad one on Monday. We were out there too but finished our ride before 11am and didn't have any issues with other riders. I definitely have had more bad days on Seymour though than Fromme. I think part of the problem is that there is shuttle access, 2 way connector trails that are relatively narrow and the occasional large group or mudbunny ride and you can start getting your flow interrupted pretty easily. 

No solutions or ideas here really. Just to suggest that maybe we need a more detailed set of etiquette guidelines just for Seymour itself that align with a higher density of riders on a narrower ( and sometimes 2 way) trail network. Then post those guidelines in more places might be helpful.

Wow, thanks all for your comments in the thread. 

I will answer a couple of things pointed out to me from my original post. 

Yes! is the simple answer, riding with my 18 month old is pretty much fun for me. I have never had an issue with people passing me when I am with him. He loves it too. Bump bump and cheering and laughing the entire way down and high fiving and fist bumping all the way up.

My issue was with my 4 year old getting passed. I ride behind her to give her a buffer and I make sure people know they are about to pass a 4 year old. But, please just do so with care. I do my best to ride at times that are not too busy, and trust me she can handle everything that bobsled can throw at her she just does it at 4 year old pace. All I ask is let us clear the track for you when it is safe and then get back to your top speeds.

Both my kids will learn proper trail etiquette as they grow up, including the climbing rider has the right of way and pass only when it is safe to do so. As their skills improve they will be looking to get on to bigger and better trails so this debate will never really end. it all comes down to RESPECT. Then we can all get along on the giant playgrounds that we are all so fortunate to get to play on.

On the few occasions when I have ridden up on a family situation on the trail I always slow down, make myself known and say something positive as I carefully move past. Then I get on ripping it up. My earlier suggestion was that Bobsled is a popular trail and many, like me, like to go fast on it. The attitudes of the riders you meet will vary in a situation like that. Yes sharing and good judgement should be the rule, but as mountain biking explodes in popularity I myself see more and more "Vantitlement" on the trails. All I can say is , good luck, have fun and I hope your kids have good experiences out there. 

P.S. I would vote against making bobsled a kids primary trail. It's important to have that kind of trail available for all to enjoy.

I totally appreciate wanting to get your kids into biking, but bobsled was built to be fast. Rider attitudes vary, but if you're taking an 18 month old on it, I'd say your prioritizing your enjoyment over his. Might be you who needs to rethink things.
