As someone who grew up in North Van…. That started riding around 30 years ago…. It would be good to see some trails left the way they were originally….. And if you change the trail. Then maybe just change the name of the trail. My background in mountain biking. Some trail work…… Youngest mountain biker at 18 to qualify at the first World Mountain Bike champs 1990. Couple top 10's in World Cup Downhill. Couple top 20 in World Cup Cross country….. I guess it is part of life…. but it is a little heartbreaking to see trails lose there soul. It is still always worth it to get out there regardless…..

I am confused…. I remember being able to do the Chicotin rides in a day without a plane or pack horses….. I just rode my bike. Regardless it is still beautiful.

Good to get a taste…. I grew up in North Van…. I had to pull roots for a German guy in West Van to buy my first Mountain Bike. Borrowed a few Nishiki Bushwackers before that. I got the Mtb bike because of some the guys you mentioned were riding around. I also was a super small ice hockey player so I figured I should get stronger for the WHL Draft in the 80's…. By 18, I was the youngest (ever) to qualify and race at the 1990 World Mountain Bike Championships with Ned, Tinker, Tomac Thomas…. I lined up with all the guys I studied in the mags…. I managed a few top 10 in World Cup Dowhnhill…. 91 BC Mountain Bike Champ….. I was mentioned zero times…. There is a lot of North Van bike culture missing here……

Heartbreaking. That s life I guess. Would be cool to keep some history. You need someone like Jeff Grosso who does those loveletters to skateboarding.... Mountain biking needs one for North Van....Starting in the 80s....

Congrats Andy....Way to get after it. Next level. I could only imagine the weather you must have encountered. I started doing those triple crowns in the 80s.... Nothing like this. Way to stick it out. Unreal. Your ex hockey team mate Plymouth Elementary s Paul Kariya might take notice....or not....ha ha....He might be to busy surfing. Good work representing our hometown of North Van.

Old fart. The UBC story is funny (Only because everything worked out) And I can relate a bit…..I remember riding there as a teen to get some secret training for bike racing….the only place to find faster trails in the 80 s….(You can t just ride old buck then down severed dick….ha ha…) Basically my blt light stopped working the moment I hit a bigger bump….After that I was riding at a snails pace to make my way out…..So dark out in the UBC trails….I knew s it about life at the time so I thought every animal and skate punks with mohawks were out to get me.

Wow….Great ideas here. I might have to talk to Jagr…. To find a way to train as an older athlete….To keep up to this stuff you guys are up to. Keep going.

Just got word from my younger brother Andy T. He just finished pedaling door to door….100 laps on 5 different Seymour mountain bike trails.:czech: I tried this..but fell short.

Animal mountain bike chin….I think it is around the next corner….rocks…roots….bridges… boulders…logs and trees…

Looks like cut your bars was taken out by the golf course…That was a fun trail.

Congrats. By the way. No easy task I am sure. Sounds like your bike was hanging on by a thread. This is a first. I have been riding since 84. I do not remember anyone trying this variation. Many epic rides were put down by many riders…..Especially in in the early 90's by pro elite racers……Just not this specific variation. Good call on the self supported approach.
