hello from sunny california . . .

Also the poison oak at the side of many trails down there is a huge pain in the ass!

That sick rogue trail you come across in an open space preserve has a very real chance of leading to a cartel run grow op. Javier won't be happy to see you!

Yes, there are way too many people there!

MTB shoes are Fugly!!

My grandfather was an old school Italian cobbler….I have a recessive genetic shoe fetish.

Just spend the $810 and get the Celine shoes! You know you want to! :drunk:

Well, 5.10 sticky rubber is also good for drawing smiley faces on floors/sidewalks. Any little scuff leaves a huge black mark!

This is no word of a lie: having ridden as long as I have there are certain things that I thought were a given I would never see. Ever. Last year I was going up Mtn. Hwy and upon reaching Bobsled I saw a guy going down with, get this, a KID TRAILER attached to his bike with his kid in the trailer. You know, the type that attaches to the rear axle….. I have stopped making any such claims of "I thought I would never" since this clearly shows how groomed things are getting. I wonder how long it will be before I see…….:hurt: It's coming. And with the parking lot, you wait until the handicap parking is enacted, and thus mandates a paved section, and thus, something for the said wheelchair to be able to go down. Give it time.

I believe Mtn Highway used to be a paved toll road. Maybe Grouse and the DNV can re-pave it, and charge a toll to ride the road up. We can strap-on roadie wheels and tires to our 29er E-bike scooter chairs for the way up and carry MTB wheels on our Wang bag to swap out at the top for the downs!

Anybody tried Bobsled in a shopping cart yet?

^Wonder how those $810 Celine shoes grip wet flats? Can you mount cleats on them? :fruit:

the ground clearance on that thing makes it pretty much useless for anything more than sidewalks and flat smooth trails.

I don't think the one I saw had a huge front wheel, either. Actually, I didn't look all that closely and I was anti-social today and didn't do any talking. :-P I'm guessing they were heading to Bobsled.

I hope Leppard stays the way it is! I rode it for the first time in over six years today and some of the climbing corners got me good. I used to be able to clean them fine and I will work my way back to cleaning them again. I hope it doesn't get sanitized too. I am starting to quite enjoy the Kirkford slalom course!

Saw somebody on a, I guess they are called gravity scooters, today. I used to see unicycles a lot on Fromme but I guess that trend died along with the 24" rear wheel. Perhaps this is the new unicycle?

Looks like this sorta

Still yet to see an ebike! :P

Also a funny observation, well to me anyways. Last time I came up all the cars were parked on the west side of the lot, today they were all on the east side. I take it whoever gets there first sets the trend as to which side is parked on. :cow:

Can't use the real name in a PC sanitized trail society. :hurt:

the gate is the least issue with people flying outta there. I hope I'm wrong, but it seems that pedaling up the stretch between 1st gate and the parking lot will be a lot less pleasant with traffic and dust.

No, it isn't pleasant. It was bad enough last year when I had the pleasure of arriving after about half a dozen parents had dropped off their kids in the turnaround for a mtb camp (note never arrive at the road just before 10 am during summer! :drunk:) . Hopefully they are still going to build a parallel path as per the original plans! Bonus points if it is actually a trail and not gravel! :P Though my current plan is to start to HTFU and climb or push up No Quarter as needed!

@Jerry. Oh Boy…. I hope not. You never know. I guess they could build an indoor hockey rink, ski area and Bike Park…. All three sports every day…. All year round. Lets just bring all the outdoor sports indoors. Ha Ha.

I petition for turning Bobsled into a Redbull Crashed Ice course this winter!

Are they planning to widen the gate at the bottom of Mtn Hwy? When you are driving, or riding up, the gate is a pinch point and you can't see anybody coming down until you're pretty much through the gate. At the speed some fly out of there, I think this is bound to cause some grief on a busy day!

When I was there in the spring I was shocked to see they mowed down a bunch of trees to build a parking lot. ESPECIALLY after all the fuss that is made regarding environmental 'damage' done at the hands of mountain bikers. Are the Monica Cravers of the World creating a fuss over this? Does no one find the construction of a parking lot a tad hypocritical?

To me this paves the way for a machine built jump trail. Gone are any environmental concerns in doing so.

It's probably OK with her as long as you're not parking in front of her house or disturbing frogs!

Hopefully the novelty will die off. Til then, I'm glad I can ride weekday mornings!

PS anybody walking, running, or biking up Expresso on a weekend or hoilday is a fucking idiot!
