Fromme 2015 Conditions

Ladies and Expresso both roped off today. In fact, Ladies has been closed every time I ride by for the last two weeks! Major work being done?

The new dirt on the berms at the top of 7th are very muddy and rutted out. Very wet overall but, for me anyways, preferable to the overly dry summer!

This is why we should oppose electric bikes

There goes that argument.

And 400 watts is a lot. Top riders at the tour will produce those numbers so add that to a normal person's 250 and that person climbs better than Armstrong ever did.

Can't wait to see doping ebikers!

Fromme 2015 Conditions

Any reason why the road at Seventh smells like a concert portapotty line-up??? Does Grouse dump sewage down there? It's gross….

It didn't smell today lol

Trails nice and tacky! It's nice to have grip again! Sure beats the dry conditions. Hope this keeps up with the occasional rain!

War in the Woods!

Seems these Fromme incidents always involve hiking poles. Ban hiking poles on Fromme. :cuffs:

No I wouldn't do that just looking for an alternative to parking on Dempsey and having to chug up the pave.

What's the grade on the road past the gate average, anyone know?

Around 7 or 8%, I believe

Encountering dogs while riding

I'm not afraid of dogs but I can see how some people are terrified of them. For example, there is somebody on Fromme who walks a huge ass dog with a big bark on Jerry Rig regularly. More than once I've been riding down Lower Oilcan and hear barking and next thing you know said dog is crashing across through the brush towards me. It doesn't do anything and isn't agressive other than the barking, but if I had a phobia, I'd probably shit myself!

Hey! You all ok over there? (crazy storms in Vancouver and the Fraser Valley)

Meh, I hope the wind picks up again from the other direction so I don't have to rake the leaves!

old shore pics

If you look closely, you can see Monica Craver's house nestled in the forest. Apart of the forest, if you will.

I wonder how the frogs liked being burned alive? I think that was a little harder on them little fellows than a few MTB trails, no?

What appreciates faster than real estate in Vancouver?

I priced out xt 11 speed on crc and to get a shifter, chain, RD and cassette it was $350 OR one sram cassette lol. Just replace it all with shimano and be done with it. I'm sure you could find a freehub body cheap enough.

Makes it tempting to just run the whole system in to the ground and replace it! :dead:

Fromme Parking Lot

I was just thinking how cool it would be if there were a For the Kids level climbing only trail connected to Bobsled. It would be a fun little noobie loop, and allow those who still ride in to avoid being dusted by cars going to and from the lot!

regular maintenance is the same on any bike though, my (old, I guess) bike goes through about the same maintenance schedule..but I'll admit the new schwag out there is pretty killer.

have you checked out how much a Sram 11spd cassette runs compared to a 10 spd SLX or XT though? Even the entry level 11spd stuff is 4-5 times the price, maybe more…is the tradeoff worth it? You can't put a price on the fun of riding a bike..until you realize you actually can.

Good lord I'm dreading replacing my 11 speed cassette for the first time. Hopefully a cheaper option available when I need to. I'm sure they'll be a 12 speed ultra narrow system to go with 28.35" wheels by then and 11 speed will be on clearance!
