Steve Smith dead??

This is a wholely inappropriate response. Get over your self-entitled bullshit and have some respect for a great ambassador for this sport taken from us far too young. Shit happens all the time, whether pushing limits or simply walking down the street. You need a reality check.

Life is precious and sometimes luck runs out, no rhyme or reason to it. Leave your preaching for somewhere else because every single person in this community is hurting at the loss of a great one. Many of us didn't know him personally but felt a connection as a guy that loved to ride bikes in the woods. Huge loss for us all.

Ride in peace brother

I'm also guessing he's the kind of guy who's going to be riding fast, taking risks and loving every second regardless if he's getting paid.

RIP Stevie.

Tubeless...such a pain in the ass sometimes.

I've always used specialized tires tubeless and have been able to get the bead to seat with a normal pump. I get a new Maxxis, pump won't get it to seat. Put in a couple little red cups of stans, pump my ass out (say what?) Won't seat. Drive to gas station, and with use of the Shrader to Presta adapter, it seats and inflates and holds air. Leave it overnight…still holds air. But I'm a bit paranoid as I believe half of the stans I put in was lost in the original shit show of trying to get it to seat at home and enroute to the gas station. So I deflate, break bead open enough to dump in another red cup of stans. Pump my ass out again (say what??) Bead won't seat. Air and stans flying out everywhere. So I just hose theh shit out of everythinig (yard, rim, tire) and use a tube.

I guess the lesson here is:
1. Maxxis EXO TR are harder to mount than Specialized.
2. My home MEC pump isn't what it used to be.
3. I should have done the whole damn process at the gas station.
4. I'm an idiot.

Thanks for listening.

I used to be that guy. Then I got a bontrager charger pump. Probably the best tool I've ever bought. Highly recommend if you're changing a lot of tubeless tires.

Squamish 2016 Trail Conditions

^^^ Very nice! We're doing a similar route in a couple of weeks time.

Anyone know the trail/logging situation around Skookum -[HTML_REMOVED] IMBA Smart -[HTML_REMOVED] Fred -[HTML_REMOVED] Tinder -[HTML_REMOVED] Your Mom? We're planning on doing these trails as part of a route sometime.

That area (skookum/imba smart) has been on the slate for a while but haven't heard any whispers of logging starting any time soon.

Help wanted: plan a BC enduro trip in August

No problems I will do for sure. My brother in law is riding too but he has only a DH bike so it's bike park or shuttle only.
Last tie I went to BC I had only my DH bike but this time I will have the Spartan so I can ride uphill too :)

I just checked the trailforks heatmap and it seems that Cypress is not ridden a lot compare to Fromme or Seymour. Why?

Thanks.

Too many enduroers. Everyone is now afraid of the gnar.

Pemberton Enduro 2016

37.6km and 1550m elevation yesterday riding the course minus Rudy's from town. Hopefully people don't get over zealous and explode on Mackenzie cruise…

I'll give you a tour around Squamish if you give me a tour in France in September.

Pemberton Enduro 2016

I haven't set the course yet, so I don't have a good idea. Ballpark last year was 1150 meters of climbing and approximately 35k of pedaling. A complete ballpark of this years via Google Earth pegs the elevation gain at about the same for this year. Perhaps a little less distance. Only two spots left!

Hmmm, my stats for last year were 38k and 1800m but then again that was off a phone so not the most reliable.

2016 lower mainland enduro race schedule

May 29th – Prevost Enduro – Cowichan Cycles – Registration opens March 1

I've only ridden prevost once but I feel like it would probably be the scariest place to race a small bike.

Replacement pins - NRG Taster's Choice pedals

MY DH bike has what I think are NRG Taster's Choice pedals. The pins are all ground/worn down and not giving me the grip I want (was lucky to not slip any pedals of consequence last season in the park).

Anyone know if local shops/hardware stores/online places sell these? They are 7mm hex screws with M4 thread not sure exact size. Was going to bring one into home depot but thought I'd ask here because I'm lazy.

Thanks

pedals:

Probably have some in my tool box if you want them let me know when you're through Squamish.

Squamish 2016 Trail Conditions

I heard there was some recent work done on the trail? I love AM, one of my faves. I want to check out it out but don't want to damage recent builder efforts if it's fresh.

Going to play it by ear, maybe Alice lake Monday depending how this next storm comes in.

Was in decent shape, couple of new berms and a new jump which is pretty fun but a soft landing. Might not be in great shape after the torrential downpour today. Mind the sign at the top "don't skid you fucks!"

Having an issue with DT Swiss Star Ratchet

First off, this will be a warranty issue so what Im looking for is a last ditch hail mary to see if someone knows a fix before I bring it into the shop.

I have a (brand new) SWorks Enduro 29r (2014, inventory carry over) Was working great - then the rear cassette started to skip under load.

Specialized rushed me a new free hub body. I didnt realize how the new XD driver system works - its not the problem. The cassette and the freehub body are solidly connected.

When installed on the axel, everything seems to work as it should. Put it under load and it skips, but its the inner splines skipping, over eachother, not the cassette on the body.

Its the DT Swiss Star Ratchet system

Ive inspected the splines - look fine to me.
Ive checked the two springs to make sure that theyre both in good shape - look good to me.
The top cap seems to have proper contact with the axel - its on there tight!
Its also not the orientation of the splines - they work as they should until load is applied. They're just not holding. The problem happened out of the blue - was working great.

Any ideas before I cart my bike into the shop?

Thanks in advance!

Check your hub bearings too. Large range cassettes wear out hub bearings more quickly. Don't know if it would leading to skipping but my pro 2 started to bind up when the bearing disintegrated after about 5 months.

Haberl hut

Flew in to the Haberl hut for 5 days over new years. Conditions were stellar considering how low expectations were for December. Enjoy.

Hopefully the link works.

new $120K trail for squamish

Sorca should set up a booth at the bottom lot this spring and start hitting people up hard for trail passes. Especially when the lot is overflowing every weekend before Whistler opens.
