I'd like to see an option where you could travel outside your 'area' and download the area that you were currently visiting for a small fee (for a limited time).
Because let's be honest. How many of us need a map of the whole of BC? I'd guess the majority of riders only leave their riding area a few times a year.
This. Set it to expire in a year, with x percentage going to trailforks and the rest going to the cycling association.
I have a 2x2 cycles rack on my dual sport and it's turned out pretty well although the build of it is pretty cheap for such an expensive rack. It's also a lot of weight leveraged over the back so not sure how it would go on a ruckus. The strap that goes on the handlebars levering it forward is pretty key. Also if you have a north shore billet front brake adapter you have to flip the fork 180 degrees fyi.
I've been using this drawknife which has been pretty good after sharpening it on the bench grinder. Either way peeling stringers sucks. Dog for scale.

I wonder how it will be used?
Well I may be off line but judging from the questions they are asking it seems like they're gearing up for more funding/management for recreational trails in BC and how they are going to allocate that. They seem to be deciding between increasing maintenance, increasing accessibility, proper trail design, proper trail usage or increasing enforcement.
I picked through the survey again and below are my notes of some of the questions they're asking:
- Do you construct/maintain trails
- Amount of use and who with (family, friends, etc.)
- What types of trails you use(ie. Crown land, district trails, private, etc.)
- If you participate in trail tourism (travelling to other areas in BC to recreate)
- Getting an idea of how people perceive changing demographics of trails, increased impact, density, demographics, role of transportation
- Over usage
- Conflicting user groups
- Lack of trail accessibility
- Awareness of proper trail usage
- Unsustainable trail use leading to degradation
- Construction and maintenance standards
- Rating the benefits of trail systems to yourself
- Rating different ideas for what can be done to improve trail systems in BC
- Rating the importance of specific barriers to participating in trail activity in BC
- Personal Barriers
- Rating different funding model ideas for recreation
- Questions regarding resource road use in relation to recreation
The province has created a trails strategy survey with regards to trail maintenance, funding, development, user conflict and their vision statement.
"In 2019, the PTAB (Provincial Trails Advisory Body), in collaborations with Recreation Sites and Trails B.C., began a process to complete a formal review of the Trails Strategy for B.C. to ensure the continued relevance and importance of the Trails Strategy to recreationists, communities, First Nations, tourism proponents and the province as a whole.
This work will include:
Talking to key stakeholders from across the outdoor recreation sector and government,
Gathering information and feedback from a variety of trail users throughout the province,
Researching literature on the importance and value of trails,
Identifying trends in trail usage including challenges and benefits, and;
Determining the status of implementation of the Trails Strategy’s 22 Action Items."

Im guessing that nobody is going to give you a free bike if that threat is included in your solicitation letters.
I guess that could be interpreted as more of a threat then I intended it to be. I'm definitely pro e-bikes for opening up new/further/less dense areas regardless of whether or not I get one. I'm just surprised there isn't more of a marketing effort for ebikes towards the trail maintenance aspect when they're only seeming to aggravate trail associations about the increased use.
Anybody ever used or seen these before? Seems like a really good deal (though obviously a chinese knock off) and it looks like parts might be interchangeable with a Husky. Sounds like there's import duties though too.

No. I'd potentially be tempted to get one if I was building a trail that was 'out there', to speed up proceedings, but even then I'd probably get something completely different like an E-assist fat bike. I've got no interest in getting the same style bike but with a motor when I have 'sort of...' working legs. And the whole 'you can get more laps in', will be the death of many trails.
This. I'm surprised more companies, specifically in Canada haven't marketed them as a trailbuilding tool to try and get over a lot of the negative public perception. I'm very biased though as I'm currently contacting a bunch of companies to try and get a hook up on an ebike for a massive project I have in for approval. It seems like a no-brainer considering that I could potentially ask the ministry in my section 57 application that I'd like to ban ebikes from said trail, but I guess this is all still a grey area under recreation management guidelines.

First impressions were really good but need to figure out the suspension. Or maybe I'm just used to running it too firm on my Prime.
Assegai front and rear since beginning of August and it's the best tire I've run. They're pretty slow rolling and heavy though. Loved magic Mary's but the wear wasn't great. Had problems putting holes through specialized and ethirteen tires.
I'm on a 2017 Prime and my girlfriend was on a 2017 Rune (selling it). I'm a pretty big fan of the low maintenance bikes so the weight doesn't bother me. Both our builds are 33lbs with heavy tires, Pikes, etc. We both raced a bunch on them.
I just went through all this very recently. I wanted a very specific build/truck. I have used a broker in the past but wound up paying more and if you're arguing over $500 I'm guessing you're not going to want to go that route. Make sure you are final price/after taxes and fees and get them to send you the spec sheet with the build and price as it might be missing things when you show up. I used Craigslist mostly as it's got a bunch of really good filters to find specifically what you're looking for. In the end I emailed a ton of dealers and they found me a super good deal on what I'm guessing was a buy back for an enterprise rental. Good luck on the hunt.
