great piece, Cam! in the age of offshore outsourcing, it's great to see a local manufacturing startup.

the sentinel looks badass, indeed. love that they're launching in aluminum too.

the marzocchi girl riff was perfect. filmed in steve mitchell's lair of antiquities, to boot. great job, everyone involved!

Marin and Polygon's Naild R3ACT Suspension System - Aug. 3, 2017, 9:08 a.m.

nice teardown, andrew. was wondering what the guts looked like. i'm curious if the same suspension kinematics could have been achieved with swing links (ie, eliminate the proprietary sliding element). also wondering if the added friction of the slidey thing requires tweaked damper settings. have you tried cycling the suspension without the shock? would like to swing a leg over the thing at some point. morbid curiosity and all.

Why Would Anyone Buy Carbon Wheels?* - July 12, 2017, 11:02 a.m.

love the idea of a more compliant carbon rim. i prefer the feel of aluminum over the (very stiff) carbon rims i've ridden so far.

i had a cracked carbon frame repaired by rob - solid work at a reasonable price. the (potential) repairability of carbon is pretty neat.

the Superco Silencer is near the top of my all time favorite dh designs list. it's too bad doc never made a go of these. stoked to have had an opportunity to ride this bike.

yep, the pole looks interesting, and i like the elegant simplicity of the starling. geometry trumps fancy pants suspension platform. i like the aesthetics of this Italian steed - you can't polish carbon!

i pine for the pinner. though lack of wb mount may be a deal breaker.

a man after my heart, Andrew. as the sport evolves, we seem to be converging upon an optimized "sameness" of design. bikes are certainly much better, just less interesting in their homogeneity. for whatever reason, i tend to gravitate towards bikes with emphasis on personality - sometimes to the detriment of outright performance. a bit of character that adds spice to the riding experience.

2017 Specialized S-Works Enduro 29 - May 4, 2017, 8:12 p.m.

Perhaps I may have come off a bit overly critical, but at a $10k price point I am inclined to have high expectations and scrutinize fairly aggressively. If this were a $5k bike, those items I mentioned wouldn't even have been talking points. To be clear, this is a very good bike - certainly worthy company with the other 5-figure bikes of the genre I've ridden.

EDC - OneUp's Slick Hidden Tool - April 25, 2017, 2:24 p.m.

yeah, threading sounds like a headache. a thin expanding insert it is, then. a nerdly bit of design to pull that off effectively.

EDC - OneUp's Slick Hidden Tool - April 24, 2017, 4:55 p.m.

I'd assume internally threaded steerer, but perhaps there's something less invasive going on. doesn't seem to be room for anything else. super cool bit of work, regardless.  non pack wearing minimalist me is in awe.

Marin's 2018 Wolf Ridge - April 20, 2017, 10:56 a.m.

a part of me misses the primordial days of janky suspension experimentalism.
