bux-bux's link is pretty much the same Acer I ended up with.  But mine has the newer i5-7200 chip and touchscreen for just over $600 taxes in.

I just went through this myself. I found Best Buy had the best sales. I just waited until a 15" lap top with the newest Intel i5 processor came on sale. I wanted something that was a little future proof. YMMV. I ended up with a Acer for around $600. IMO all the brands are the same at this cheaper price point. I was looking for the best deal.

I then wiped all the bloatware. It's very easy with Window's 10.

I removed all the useless Windows apps with CCleaner. I highly recommend CCleaner. It's worth running every few days if you browse a lot.

Then I waited for a Samsung SSD M.2 hard drive to come on sale and popped it in. I was surprised how easy it was to upgrade the hard drive. The Samsung SSD's come with very good cloning software.

Edit: don't get anything with less than 8gb of ram.

Anyone here heard of the TCAT (Trans Canada Adventure Trail) Mostly offroad 15 000km coast to coast.

I want to try it.

The wife and I rode sections of it on our across Canada trip a couple years back. Completing it is on my to do list. They are working on paving the Trans Labrador which is part of the TCAT. I hope to ride it before they do. It will probably take years before its paved though.

No aluminum wiring. The 3.9L is tough, it's literally a 318 with 2 cylinders lopped off. But it's an absolute gas guzzler. I owned one with a 5 speed.

If I was looking for more of a offroad compatable camping set-up I would look at a Westy 4x4 van or a 4x4 Toyota van . Seen a video of a Toyota 4x4 van doing the Rubicon , van looked pretty stock apart from the BFG tires .

According to the ads at the new Star Wars movie last night your life will be dull and boring unless you drive a new Lexus RX.

But what happens to costs (long term) if energy were to become limitless and almost free? All the costs in the supply chain drop, cost of living drops, wages could drop, further dropping all other costs.

It could cause a massive deflationary cycle, completely upending the world economy. Might be interesting.

Energy is only one part of the economy. It could also create a boom as companies and people rush to provide services/equipment/automation that harness the idea of unlimited energy.
