Dilemma! : buy new or used?!

I am in the market for a new bike this season and I am having trouble deciding whether to buy new or used. My budget is around $2500 max. Went to look at a few bikes today at Different Bikes in West Van. Tested out the Norco Shore 3 and the Six. The problem is if i buy new, the pedals, wheels, and tires will have to go ( the stock ones are crap). But i get life time tune ups free of charge from the shop and also 5 years warranty from Norco. Or i can get a used one with those parts already upgraded for the same price or cheaper.
Just need some inputs from you guys

cheers

Suspicious ad on craigslist

According to the web site, they work with the RCMP to recover the stole bikes, then they return it to the owners without any charge.

Suspicious ad on craigslist

I came across an ad about a week ago on craigslist. The ad was titled "Norco Dowhill mountain bike" or something of those lines. In side the ad it said "Need to sell due to moving $1000obo" ( cheap huh?) with a picture of an 06 aline or atomic, couldnt really see due to the blurry picture. I email him asking what model it was and he replied " i dont know". Which really made my raise my eyebrow. I emailed him back saying it was an 06 atomic, asking for an reciept or warrenty card and he never replied and now the ad has been taking off craigslist. The bike could possibly be stolen, if anybody lost an 06 aline or atomic in black let me know i can pm you his email. Beware.

PS: on the ad it said hes in surrey

Transit Bus bike racks

also whoever designed the new racks on the new buses ( the silver racks) didnt have mountain bike in mind. My bighit and torrent wont even fit into the rack at all, its about 4-5inches longer than the rack. Theres a few of those buses running up and down the production way to sfu route. Alot of bikers have to wait for the old buses, unless the driver is nice enough to let the bikes on board

Transit Bus bike racks

I am running 2.7s in the front and .75 in the back, takes some force to pop the tire into the rack, but i guess it holds. I might be heading up to fromme this weekend via bus. Its good to know that those racks are secure

Transit Bus bike racks

I been wanting to ask this question for some time. How safe are those bus bike racks? I took the Bus a few times up to SFU and my bike danced on the rack all the way up, looks like it was about to fall off any minute but it never did. Anybody have bad experience with those racks?
