Re: drivetrain

So you guys running a Garbaruk cassette notice if it's got a chain preference? Sram or Shimano?

I have used both on Garbaruk xd driver 10 - 50T 12 spd. The sram chain seems to shift a wee bit better, but they are such a pain in the ass to purchase I just use shimano chains now.

Re: Anyone know why none of the 3 ski hills on the shore run bike parks in the summer?

The Hemlock Mountain experiment was fun.

Thought for sure my bike would fall off those rickety chairs.

Cool patio to drink beer on in the middle of summer.

Red and Bear closed to all user groups starting tomorrow due to extreme fire risk.

Can't say I'm surprised. It's flippin dry out there. I'm sure there will be a province wide back country ban soon.

Re: Hope Endcaps

It will just pull off.  Unfortunately you may have to use some channel locks or pliers " rap them in rubber" but it will come.

I love this thread, I'm in the same boat as you Squamch but without the budget for a new bike.  When my 7yr old gets a bit older I could see myself trying to piece something together.  I have dreams about rebuilding my Balfa Minuteman frame for him but by the sounds of this thread, it's probably not worth it, and maybe not possible.

And who knew 27.5 was on the way out, I wasn't around when it came in!  And boost, I don't even know what that is!  Haha.  When I left the sport in 2010 I don't remember hearing much about dropper posts, but everyone is totally on board in this thread.  Neat.

Welcome back, and thanks everyone else for the insight on the new stuff.

Thanks man!  I remember you from way back when.

I don't exactly have a budget for a bike, just a projected budget lol.

Yeah, over 26 was for road bikes, and 24s were what you ran if you wanted strong wheels😅.

Part of my motivation is to get my 3.5 year old stoked on bicycles, he's already ripping his 50 and hitting jumps, so I want him to have a chance to go hard on 2 wheels quietly too...and for dad to be able to keep up.

Craw- the mullet?

If you live near a a decent BMX track, take your 3.5 year old there. I took my kid to our local track

at 3.5 and started him on the half track.

He is now 27  and pretty much stoked on bicycles:)

Re: Bike frame/parts drought 2021

I think 216x63 is the same as 8.5x2.5. I have that Manitou Evolver ISX-6 shock I use to use on my old Nomad.

It was rebuilt by S4 suspension before I started using my coil shock full time. Yours if it fits.

One of these. Cheap at 19,000 thousand Canadian pesos. Glad I can still peddle my own bike:)

Aren't the ERAs like 2 grand?

1480euro = 2295.64 Canadian pesos. Peanuts really.

My new #shredsled 2021 Marin Alpine Trail XR. Size large. I had the shop change out the brakes for Codes. Other than that box stock. Will be changing to a SQLabs saddle and some ODI F1 series Vapour grips. Oh I added some plastic OneUp pedals and a bottle cage.

Bike looks Good Mike. No e-bike for a man of your age? :)
