Re: just 4 or 5 pounds

Recommend me a weight loss pill. Not meth, just your garden variety fat burner. Metabolic enhancer, whatever.

Re: COVID-19

+ Merck is selling its high-touted new Covid pill Molnupiravir, whose development was federally financed by NIH and the Department of Defense, back to the U.S. government for 40 times what it costs to make.

+ Anti-vaxism is itself a kind of brain-eating virus…A Cumberland, Maryland man murdered his brother and sister-in-law in their Ellicott City home last week because his brother, a local pharmacist, had administered COVID-19 vaccines.

Re: Canada Syndrome?

You're not a cunt. It's the owning classes who rigged the system who're the cunts.

There is a class war raging, one that’s being fought by the ruling class of billionaires and millionaires against the rest of us. And the rich are winning! They’re winning because they know where their interest lies: in getting richer and hanging onto their ill-gotten gains. And they’re winning too because our side is sleep-walking, lulled by the diversions of smoking pot and mountain biking, the fundamentalist religion of the free market, and non-economic dog-whistle issues like trudeau, immigration, crime, Covid vaccines and terrorism.

Any industrial installation, including solar and wind farms, profoundly disrupts the landscape on which it sits. If it were possible to fully satisfy the bloated energy appetites of affluent nation by covering hundreds of millions or billions of acres of the Earth’s surface with power-harvesting hardware, the result would be irreparable ecological damage.

Meanwhile, the manufacturing booms to supply such a sprawling proliferation of solar arrays, wind power plants, battery-backed electric grids, electric-vehicle fleets, and other hardware would require outrageously large inputs of metals such as lithium, cobalt, silver, copper, aluminum, nickel, iron, and a host of exotic rare earth elements.

It would take 74 million acres of solar only to supply 100% of the earth's power needs. Nope not "billions" nor "hundreds of millions".

Author is full of shit.

Still, that would a tragedy unless the majority of those panels were placed on privately and publicly owned sturctures to minimize the impact on the environment.

And the cost. Moving to green must be done in a way that breaks up the big power companies.

Re: RIP - Muammar Al Gathafi

Gaddafi was certainly not killed for humanitarian reasons. He wanted to empower Africa. He had a plan to create a new African Union, based on a new African economic system. He wanted to introduce the Gold Dinar to back African currencies, so they could become free from the dollar. He wanted to protect Africa’s vast natural resources from Western looting. The imperialists eliminated him.

For that group, in the USA, yes, I absolutely believe the large majority of that group are TrumpPublicans.

And you're wrong many are rural poor and have had bad outcomes dealing with the for profit healthcare rip-you-off system that they have to jump through multiple financial/logistical hoops to access and so are understandably skeptical.

You Cdns are soooooooo predictable in your holier-than-thou attitudes.

But I do agree that people in Cda. who are not illiterate and have access to free vaccines are at this point criminally responsible for causing lack of access to healthcare for others.
