So after day one, all i can say is these brakes are sick.
Stupid powerful, modulate well and an amazing lever feel, I'm very happy with them. The short lever is amazing for setting up a nice tight cockpit.

and to answer the question about extra parts, the levers i bought came with hoses (they use a new hose , smaller inner diameter i believe) the hoses had fittings that bolted straight onto the saint caliper. I didn't have to purchase any additional parts, which was awesome. Total set up time including bleeding was under an hour.

I just bled a set of saint calipers to the new xtr levers (bl-m988) and with parking lot tests they are some of the best feeling brakes I've ever used, i will give you guys an update once I've put some time on them in the trails though.

as a side note they will be used for purely DH as they are on a DH bike and they are on dual 8" rotors.

could I get a link to those instructions? I've been looking at taking the par out of my fork but haven't had any luck finding instructions.

Demo - Suspension works very well but the whole sub seatstay design is a bit of a gimmick IMO. Long front centre/short chainstay geometry which to me feels a bit odd, especially going quick at Whistler. Reliable pivots with sealed bearing rear shock bush - no DU to wear out. Not too heavy.

I found the demo 8 really comfortable at speeds (my first actual ride on mine was at whistler). What i did notice was that it felt strange in the air, but i quickly adapted to the feel. The bike is probably one of the better cornering dh bikes out there, with the super short chain stay, really low COG, and pretty low bb height.

I bought a demo 8 just before the summer. At first I didn't really want the bike, but after I rode it I was blown away. The bike rips, it corners amazingly, has a low center of gravity, and is really stable at high speeds. My friend, who rode a shocker at the time, took my Demo down A-line while his bike was getting fixed. He was really shocked at how well it jumps and how good the bike feels.
I say at least take a demo for a test ride, it's a really sick bike.
