Money Shots Week Six - the winner

even if Damien Rosso is a "pro" and has printed more than 5 of his photos he shouldnt of won any way. photo #2 should of gotten first place. way better comp and over all a much more interesting shot. the first place shot really isnt that amazing, average angle, bad leading space, ass shot, not much sence of distance, cant see take off or landing and this photo should of been taken slightly earlyer so that you can see some details of the rider.
my 2 cents

Rider/Photographer Thread

…OK.

My name is Karsten Ergetowski and i live in deep cove, north van, bc.
I'm not much of a mountain biker really, well not any more. I used to shred the shore on my old VPS Buzz ahahaha good times but then i sold it and got a dirt bike, sold the dirt bike and then yea. Now I got a Chase 3 and i hit the bowl every now and then…not very good at it but w/e. I have been a mountain bike photographer for about a year now and so far i'm loving it. I have been taking photos of other things besides biking for a couple of years already. I plan to keep taking photos of the biking scene, keep improving and keep getting to know more riders. At the moment i am at UBC taking arts and film…so i've begun filming this biking promo…realy stoked on it…should be out this coming spring!!! its gonna be awesome.

at the moment i have pretty shitty and limited equipment: d70s, sb800 speedlight, stock lens, 2 tripods, some studio eqipment (3 reflectors and 2 diffusers), a handfull of filters and diffusers for my flash, a kick ass lowepro camera bag…and yea thats about it.

Shreddin' Urban

Went shooting with Kostia yesterday. We were filming but my video camera conveniently ran out of batteries. W/e. So i took out my camera and i scoped for some interesting urban compositions before it got dark. Also trying to keep the lighting good cuz i still only have one flash…just makes things that much more complictated.

Any way…here is the first photo…really unusual composition. I like the reds against the green grass. Also stoked on how kostia pulled of such a nice table off not much of a lip!!!

Second shot is this gnarly wall ride. It was already pitch black outside so that made things even more tricky. Again looked for good comp, this one is more nuetral and the green plants on the top are nicely lit up and add nice contrast to the grey wall. yada yada yada….oh and i threw in a green filter for the flash.

…werd

p.s. we saw the ugliest emo kid on the way back from that shoot…just thought i'd throw that in there.

Lafarge Sessions Late Pics

…nice pics…. :fruit:…i simply love the remote flash just chilling there in the first couple of pics…also feeling the "awsome" angles and the random out-of-focus-pics. you also nailed your lighting and comp! oh and centering the riders is realllly cool!!!

…keep it up man :grinno:
