2012 Conditions... (Whistler Bike Park)

Dirt Merchant opened yesterday afternoon. Needs to dry out and harden up. Great weekend for riding in the park with some sun, clouds and hail.

Yeah, she was a little soft, but it was awesome that Rutabega was open again!

Also, Del Boca Vista is a fun rip.

Garbo DH and Air DH spectating?

IIRC i don't think you can get up into Garbo (on the chair) unless you have a racer plate. Don't know about hiking up?

Pick somewhere that there are a couple of line choices, or a nice wide open section, or a section you really struggle with.

You can take the Gondola and walk down.

A lot of people hang out on Monkey Hands to watch and cheer the end of the race. You can hear the announcers and listen for times too.

Dirt Fantasy League

dude, you're team killed it!

They killed it in quali's but not as much as I was hoping in the finals. I'm kind of torn on who to trade for FT William though. Cedric was a wild card that worked great, but I don't know if I should count on him or not, although he has won at FT William in the past…

Ride Don't Slide

Just nut up and head over to Tresspasser. They could put a Las Vegas-style neon sign to the entrance of that trail and I doubt it would get ridden!

Lower A-Line Work...

that's okay if you wanna hit it straight, but with the speed you carry going into it, you can manage your speed better by going off the jump at an angle from left to right and land on the side hill of the landing, I have gone massive doing that and carried all my momentum into the flats. I guess for people who have raced the Aline races its a no brainer because we need all the speed we can get before the sprint to the GLC…..

haha, the only time I do NOT hip is during that race! I hit it really far left side and scrub the living piss out it!

straight airing that last one is asking for serious trouble….its one of my favourite on the mountain actually, but I do a pretty serious far left to far right transfer on it….

Exactly, you should be landing about 5 feet to the right of where you are.

This guy is worth a look...

Definitely a good call, I realize we're probably all talking past each other here because I never considered people like Bender (for whom huge shoxxx really did help) to be pushing the sport.

I think bender helped progress the sport a ton. Sure, his hucks lacked style and tricks, but he was the first mainstream rider to say "hey, we can go bigger than BMX, lets do it!"

Josh benders part in NWD 1 sold that movie for me and really got me hooked on the freeride/DH side of mountain bikes. In my decade in the sport, I've introduced numerous people into the sport. None of that would have happened argueably, if it wasn't for me thinking that Bender was cool back in the day.

That's the definition of progression of the industry.
