Lance McDermott Interview

I was just shocked he was a Manc, I just presumed he was american. I think to judge character you need to meet them/see them on film being interviewed.

Also I want to be number 1 in biking, not doing anything about it but given 3 wishes 1 would be to be the fastest/most skillful/fluid downhiller on the planet. I think it shows ambition and is comendable. If he was asked what he wanted and said he'd like to be top 10 then i'd think he didnt have drive.

flattening trails

Yeah thought about grafiting fuck huckers over the trial, then thought thats nasty, they might tell there mummies. But yeah a note is a good idea. Might laminate one and attach round a tree.

flattening trails

But i dont know who did them. There isnt a real tight mountain bike community that you see out digging out everyweekend. People just come and go as they please and the jumps look as if they took 5 minuets to make

flattening trails

Is there a bad karma about it? Theres a multi use trail (ie bikes, walkers) round where i stay and some kids have built a couple or seriously shoddy jumps on it. They're really just mud, and the trail though possibly sutible for it gets far too much trafic to relly sustain them. Also they're on the main line and you really cant detour them if your pinning. I personally think theyre a safety issue. So next week i want to flatten them not cause i hate jumps just these are sh1t and i feel someone might hurt themselves on them. Is it right to do and I would really like to talk to the kids who did and explain but the trail gets so much use I wouldnt know who it was.

What does everyone think

Mastering MTB Skills Review

Good review great book, agree about the cover being dated the format is not to 'hip' either but the content is second to none, it is indespensible for refining skills and has nice anacdotes(?) aswell to keep it interesting lost my copy to some kids up the road who wanted to borrow it, and i miss it

Glugging brakes

When under heavy breaking, as in going slowly down a steep section, my rear Juicy 7's make a horrid glugging sound like there is air or something in the brake. Do I need to reblead them or worse or is it just bedding in, Ive had them for a month and a half now though…

Build up for a stiffee

not too keen on the pikes as I have a decent set of wheels already with QR ready hubs and cant be bothered with the hassel/cost of a rebuild and a new hub. But am looking into getting SRAM gears, Im pretty set on the race face stuff as with the frame you can get a kit which is all race face for the same price as the cranks retail, which is nice

Build up for a stiffee

Any advice on components/fork for a cove stiffee for all round trail riding, nothing too burly but definetly not a XC wippet. Im thinking about XT brakes and Gear, Race Face Evolve components and a RockShock Reacon Poploc U-turn fork, Ive already got wheels and a saddle. Any advice/changes to that would be apreciated

Seized stem

Cheers, i think it might be double threaded or whatever the term for crossing the screws, I dunno who last fixed it, the problem is the screws are piss poor and are being warn down by the force.

Seized stem

I was trying to tighten the headset by loosening the stem but it cant get the screws loose any tips to loosen them or will it be a case of sawing the bolts and buying a new stem.
