The rider is me. I don't care much for people that jump to conclusions either.

The 24 is really nice for the steeps. Gave me loads more confidence - which I really lack.

I still ride a 2006 Slayer frame and like it. None of the components no it are 2006 though. My only peeve is the narrow rear triangle. It will only fit a narrow (e.g. Maxxis) 2.35 tire. Other than that, no complaints.

Having said that, I agree with the others on price. Should be able to find newer for less. Also, that fork appears to be a mis-match for that frame. Needs something stiffer.

My parents have had a cottage up near Tobermory since the 60s, so I've spent a ton of time there.

The golf course is now super expensive. Only bring your clubs if you really have to. The current owner has done some great improvements over the last couple of years, but it's still not worth the price. Men's night (Wednesday, 5:00) is likely the best deal. $20 for 9, dinner is extra. My dad runs it.

Get a wet suit if you're snorkeling. As stated above, it's COLD. Take one of the glass bottom boat tours if you have time. Warmest place to swim is Singing Sands beach - about 10 minutes south, 2km up the Dorcas Bay road. Not the greatest place to swim though, as you have to walk almost 1k before it gets deep enough. Great place for the little ones to splash about with zero risk of drowning.

The Grotto at Cypress Lake is pretty cool. Again, on the Georgian Bay side, so it's mighty cold.

Definitely check out the new Parks Canada visitor center just South of town. They built an observation tower a couple of years ago that provides a stellar view of the area.

The Crowsnest is a good place to have a patio pint. They've just about finished reconstruction from a fire in 2010.

BTW, the rock climbing in Lion's Head is good, but I'd hesitate to call it some of the best climbing in Canada. Maybe in Ontario. BC is spoiled rotten.

I will likely be in Lytton this weekend. Going with some friends from Kamloops.

I'll confirm tomorrow. Won't be hitting the gnar trails though, gotta take the XR400 for this trip. The 250 is undergoing repairs.

Concur on both.

For those who think the $1.99 500ml cans are the cheapest, they come in at $0.3980/100ml. Whereas the $7.95/6 regular cans are $0.3732/100ml. Not much in it I agree, but the 6'ers are slightly cheaper. This is NOT a statement about quality.

TW: drop a slice or two of lime into just about any shitty lager and it will become half decent. I'm drinking the Cariboo green right now (with lime of course) and the Bowen Irish Cream Ale (no lime).

Dave, what about spark arrestors for 2 strokes? My KDX doesn't have one, but when Terry inspected us at Bear, he didn't even bother looking for one, although he did berate one of our crew for noise.

Do you know if a 2 stroke must have a spark arrestor screen? FMF exhaust.

ALL bikes/quads must have spark arrestors. It's not just a thumper thing. Though I've never been checked either, and had both my bikes through the sound check.

In the short stage one of the 2009 Vuelta, Rodriguez beat Ryder by 1 second. In the longer second ITT, the spaniard was up by 35 seconds. Ryder was out of the race before the third ITT.
