Re: cyber attacks and ransom ware bastages

The weakest link in the chain is almost always the human sitting at the computer.  Got the panicked call from a client Monday at lunchtime.  "All of our documents have weird icons, someone admitted to opening an attachment to a spam email"  The spam slipped through the filter, it looked like an invoice, and the finance person opened it.

150Gb of data borked. About 2 hours to restore from backup, 1/2 a day of work lost for some of their users, and 2 computers to nuke and reinstall.  It could have been much worse.

Re: proportional rep vs FPTP

People have issues figuring out how to mark a ballot when they have to make only 1 choice, what will it be like when you have to mark 2nd and 3rd preferences for a ranked ballot? Make it any more complicated and people will just give up and not waste their time.  I'm not a fan of FPTP, but it is simple and easy to work with for the common voter.

Re: NCIX data breach

You think not saving that info at the time of purchase makes a difference?

Re: NCIX data breach

Heh, any card I would have used with them is long expired, but there are still my personal details in the wind somewhere.

Trump is now pulling shit straight out of Orwell's 1984.

Re: The NSMB Random Conspiracy Theory Thread

Posted by: aShogunNamedMarcus

It's not really random but it's interesting.

Grand Juror who leaked Clinton information found dead

"As you have probably heard, one of the grand jurors in the Mueller investigation leaked one of the names on the sealed indictments handed down so far in the Russia probe: Roger Clinton Jr., half-brother of Bill.

The woman, whose name we now know is Caroline Dans La Ville from Baltimore, reportedly texted her nephew excitedly when the grand jury voted unanimously to indict Clinton for his involvement in a company that was lobbying for increased foreign aid to the Ukraine. If convicted, Fox News says Clinton could face up to 25 years in prison for making undisclosed millions from secret deals with foreign powers. Hours later, she went missing on her way home."

Arkancide works in mysterious ways.

Any other sources to back that up?

Re: CBC Article: Whistler mayor not keen about day trippers from Lower Mainland

I miss living in the mountains, but I am glad I got out of Whistler when I did (2001).  I knew I would never be able to afford to own property there, or even in pemby.  I thought things were crazy when I left, and it has only gotten worse.

Re: Lucky Number Slevin

Watched Smokin Aces and Hardcore Henry the other night.  Thought smokin aces was great, pretty surprised to see Ryan Renolds.

Hardcore Henry was OK, was an interesting concept, but I actually got bored.  Too much of the same thing over and over.

Re: religious people at the door...

Around here they always seem to have young kids doing their spiel likely to try and discourage people from swearing at them.  I either ignore them and they eventually go away, or give them a firm quick no and shut the door.

Re: veganism

Eat what you want.  As long as you aren't one of the douchnozzle twats trying to force your way of eating on everyone else by sabotaging farmers or holding "funerals" at the grocery store.

Re: NSMB 4.0

I used to come to the forum almost daily, now, maybe once or twice a week.  Providing feedback here seems useless as well, as none of the issues I have pointed out have been even acknowledged in 2 months...
