I got my Murmur with the adjustable shock mount so I could run it from 140/127 up to 170/145, but now I'm curious about 170/127...

The only time I've ever found myself wishing for a 170mm magic carpet was on Trail 41 late in the season when it was 2 miles of hard packed gopher hole chatter armageddon.

This coming from a goof who rides a 120mm hardtail all over Santa Cruz County.

Re: rigid forks, a new, inexpensive, long-ATC option is Bird's cro-mo 505mm fork for roughly $150.

I've been strongly considering a bar with this geo for my HT (already have a 12° bar that I love on my FS) and I like the way this one looks, but I'm concerned it won't play nice with my 3 year old's Kids Ride Shotgun handlebar (small problem) and that the crossbar will make it too stiff for my taste (bigger problem).

Having been confounded by attempts to post an image, I will instead pose a question. I have a 2021 Salsa Timberjack which is the first “modern” bike I’ve owned. I like it a lot, but can’t help but think it’d do well with a -2 angleset. My understanding is that in addition to the obvious effect, this will steepen the STA, lower the BB height, and increase the wheelbase, all factors I *think* will be good. Any input from the NSMB hardtail/angleset gurus would be greatly appreciated.

It will also drop your stack a teensy bit.

I threw a Works Components -2° angleset on my 2017 DragonSlayer (stock hta 68°) about a year ago and haven't regretted it for one second. Pointing down is magnitudes better, and I've never felt I lost anything pointing up. Installation was a cinch with a $30 headset press off Amazon.

Talk of rigid SS bikes has me a bit fired up. I ordered a Bird 505mm steel fork ~$165USD shipped. I'm not sure what I'll do with it, but having it on hand will make some last minute brainstorm project possible.
