Riding alone precautions

I bought a delorme inreach last spring and am happy with it so far. I originally bought it for my trials moto rides but it's given me the confidence to do a fair bit of solo night riding in and around the cowichan valley this winter. I bring my inreach and a knife zip tied to my packs shoulder strap for quick access in case anything ever decides to jumps on my back. I'm religious about having fresh batteries and carry extras in my pack.

The new SE version is slimmer and doesn't require pairing to a smrtphone via Bluetooth for texting capabilities.

Dales WTF?

what's the point. haters gonna hate. builders gonna build what they wanna build. whiners gonna whine. mountain bikers gonna douche up the backcountry and generally be tools.

The force is strong with this one.

wasp nests while building

[QUOTE=cerealkilla';2772580]Hmmm, interesting. Curious if it actually kills them?
Might be worth using an outdated canister on a nest. It's good to practice with the stuff in case you ever really need to use it, and you don't want to try your chances on an expired canister with a bear.
We threw rocks and smashed the nest then opened up within a few feet of it. Killed them off within 5 minutes!

A can of bear spray has worked for me. A little pricey but you can keep working after everything settles

Good places to live in BC (chance of becoming NSFW in the future..)

Or towards Lillooet.

Or just North of Lillooet.

Camping near Sun Peaks and Silver Star

Hefley lake is that small lake about 10 min before you get to SP just before you start the big climb, we stayed there a few times when riding the lifts, they have coin op showers which is nice after a dirty day

I think there might also be a govy site on that lake

Smart phone as a personal backcountry GPS device?

Phones tend to rely on cellular triangulation more than built in GPS.

Get one of these: Garmin GPSMAP 62
