Terrible idea. People will not want to pay and end up dying.
I've got a 157 Devun Walsh prototype. Only kind in existence. Wood sidewalls and super light. All blacked out with a Haida piece laser sketched in between the bindings. Super light board but may be a bit soft for you if you're just carving around. $200. There is a K2 Carvair on CL for $400 right now, brand new. Do some research on that board - might be up your alley.
well besides my city job and db pension (which is hard to walk away from) i already have my own part-time small reno biz. for the places i'm looking at going to i don't know if there's enough of a demand for that type of work to turn it into my sole income stream.
but i'm single and no kids so i am free to take off to pretty much anywhere i want and do anything i want.
The people cashing out are moving to different areas of BC - Island, especially - that is making the real estate in those areas jump substantially. Which means those people with more equity will most likely return to investing in their own houses, therefore hiring Syncro.
Cumberland ain't that far away, winter snow shredding and a group of old guys that are building trails around there like Dozers from Fraggle Rock. Although they could use some pointers in sustainability, compared to North Shore building…
I know people love their local fish zoo (while stuffing their faces on whatever cheap fish they can get their hands on ;) ), but for anyone who is interested in genuine animal welfare, this is worth a watch:
Wally, that doc is a piece of shit. So many lies to further that filmmakers (And i use the term loosely) agenda. I worked there during some of those times and he is very far from the truth.
The vibe at the races is great. These kids high-fiving at the end of the race, or waiting at the finish line for a competitor who bailed harshly to walk through and finish, or seeing them just them shooting the shit waiting for their moto. I love that there are plenty of girls young and old there too and it's really a whole family thing. it's new to me but looks kinda cool. Some older dudes (40+) look rather fierce but some are just schlub dads like me, so might try it soon
I'm one of the older 40+ dudes at Ridge. Been doing it for a few years now. Still getting beat by the ex-pros and now my knee is worse, which means the new dads are starting to beat me. I'm in it for the jumping, actually. Helps your MTB riding like crazy. Once you start, it's game on and you;ll be looking for ways to improve equipment wise and technique wise. I'm usually wearing some white FLY gear with a black and white helmet. Come grab me! there's also a 24" redline at he shed to borrow as well.
I've got a DIESEL jetta wagon with 256K (just broken in!) that i could let go for 4K. No accidents, paint's not the prettiest but engine is super solid and 1000Km per tank on the highway. Even has roof racks! (and snow tires)
And never have scrapped the oil pan.
Cabin on the lake.
And be neighbours with Viperfunk? Fuck that. Actually, i'm from comox and have been trying to move back there for years. I can now work anywhere from home with my job and still travel for work tons (comox airport). But the issue is the wife. She's an interior designer and doesn't think there is ANY work outside the LM for her. people in smaller towns tend to spend money on cool shit like season's passes, boats and campers n' shit and not shitty wallpapers and quartz countertops.
Now prices are getting redonculous. House exactly like ours up the street went for 300K over asking. This is port moody! Not even Heritage Mtn. I'm thinking cash the fuck out. Wife is thinking long term. How do I convince her to take the money and run?
