Re: Bike maintenance resources

Park Tool's website has a nice little Repair Help section you can check out if you're more into reading than watching videos.

Re: Externally mount brake line to internally routed frame

Just watched this video. Dude's got adhesive cable guides made by Jagwire on his ASRc. Looks like he's got them directly attached to is frame without anything between the frame and the guide.

So, who does Maxxis mail order Canada. Tried to order new 2.6 Forekaster from Art's but they can't export?

Only time I've ordered Maxxis tires online, I bought from AVT.bike (http://www.avt.bike/WebStore/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&;Category_Code=MAXXIS-TIRES). That was several years ago, though. Prices were pretty decent and from what I remember, shipping time wasn't too bad either. Selection isn't all that great though; just checking, they don't seem to have much of the new Maxxis offerings on their site.

Re: Mayweather McGregor

That Wight dude sounds a tad bit annoyed by it all. And let's be real. Boxing's reputation was tarnished long before this May-Mac circus.

Personally, I'm excited for the fight and will be cheering for McGregor; my dislike for him is dwarfed by my dislike for Mayweather. And although I'm expecting him to lose and get outpointed by Mayweather in a rather unspectacular unanimous decision, I'm hoping he gets the KO he's predicting. I also absolutely enjoyed the world tour pressers they did the past week. Seeing Mayweather get roasted like that was just hilarious.

Ordered a frame manufactured in the EU.  Picked it up today with GST, PST and Duties all added on.  Fuck CBSA.

Ordered some offset bushings as well for more fun times.

Currently waiting on an order from Bike-Discount; dropper post, grips, some tools and carbon grease. Tracking says it's with CBSA now for review. Hope they don't rape me with extra charges. Should find out in a few days when it gets here.

Re: YT Industries

Kind of glad they were sold out of small Jeffsey CD Two 27s when I was looking for a new bike. Sounds like a lot of hassle and headache so far. Hope they get the issues with their Canadian distribution sorted soon.

You need to see what the $37.54 is for. People often just say 'customs' and assume its duty. There will be a $9.95 handling fee for Canada Post to accept and process your order. That leaves you with about $27 to account for. What taxes are charged on bike parts and accessories in Ontario? In BC, you would (should) pay GST on the bike parts and GST and PST on the non bike parts (in your case the two pumps). Bike parts should be duty free, except for complete bikes or wheelsets. Accessories are NOT necessarily duty free, so those pumps could be dutiable possibly.

See page 22 (87-20) from CBSA website (from 2013, cant find anything newer):

Man, sucks that the new forum doesn't have the rep feature. Much thanks for the reply.

Picked up the package and you were spot on. $9.95 handling fee. The rest was HST. Thanks for the link too!

Re: Do you buy from CRC?

Would appreciate some help from those knowledgeable with the whole duty and tax thing. I tried searching the forums, but the new search function on the forum sucks. I also tried searching CBSA's site for info, but that's a big headache too.

Just got the delivery notification from Canada Post that my Bike-Discount purchase is at the post office waiting to get picked up. There's a $37.54 customs amount due on it. Judging by the customs estimator on CBSA's site, it looks like that amount was calculated on the entire order.  My purchase consists of two bike chains, a set of handlebars, a suspension pump, and a mini pump.

I've seen it mentioned several times here that bike parts are duty (and tax?) exempt. Is that Canada-wide or does it depend on what province you're in (I'm in Ontario). Are the two pumps I ordered considered bike parts or are they under some other classification?

Re: Do you buy from CRC?

Made two recent orders. One from Bike-Discount on May 27th and one from JensonUSA, May 31st. As expected, the Jenson order arrived before the B-D order, but not by much. Jenson order arrived yesterday and is waiting to get picked up at the local UPS store. Checked the tracking on the B-D order and my package was handed over to CBSA in Montreal this morning for customs review. Hopefully, they're not dicks and hold it for too long. Not too bad for shipping times.

Re: NSMB - 2017 - Full Suspension Bike Thread

First new bike in ~14 years. Wifey ain't too pleased at the moment, but for the price I got it for, I just couldn't pass it up. Can't wait for the weather to get better so I can finally take it for a spin.

2016 Intense Tracer 275C Expert ... pretty much stock, except for the bar, saddle, pedals (all Chromag bits), and mud guard.

Steve Smith dead??

Devinci's Facebook page changed their cover picture and posted a status, but no details.

Downhill Racing lost one of the greatest today. Stevie’s drive, determination and love for living will be remembered by all those whose paths he crossed.

Game of Thrones - Season 3!!1

I've read that Martin has told the producers of the show what his plans are for the overall story arcs (not all the details, since he hasn't written them yet), in case something happens to him before he completes the books, and so the show can plan ahead (casting, contracts, etc.) to a certain degree.

Ditto. From what I understand, Benioff and Weiss already generally know how everything ends.

Game of Thrones - Season 3!!1

I heard Jon warged into his dire wolf before his human body died.

That's one of the fan theories out there, but in the books it's all up in the air. That scene is where Martin left off book 5. We'll have to wait until book 6 comes out to find out his fate.

ok this season has officaly made me question if the author is just plain fukn insane…

that ender, WTF ??? on what level of sanity does that make ANY sence AT ALL ???

this show is amazing but i really think the author would NEVER be able to write anything else.. this game of thrones thing is his one and done for sure…

The show runners have made a bunch of big changes to the story and have deviated quite a bit from the books with some story arcs. The season finale's final scene on the show seems a bit more definite than how it is in the books … in the books Jon's outcome isn't known as of yet.

Martin's got a bunch of projects on his plate, which is one of the reasons why there's big gaps between book releases. His A Song of Ice and Fire series is just one of a few he's working on.

Do you buy from CRC?

Thinking of placing an order with Bike-Discount. Any issues? Do they ship quickly? Its between them or CRC. I've had no problems with CRC.

Got my order from Bike-Discount yesterday. No issues with them whatsoever. Ordered Apr. 27th, shipped out on the 28th. No extra fees or duties either. Shipped via DHL, who passed it off to Canada Post.

Only issue was with the Canada Post postman who left it with my neighbour, who other than being my neighbour, has nothing to do with me. Still weirded out by that. Not sure why she's sign for my parcel. :S
