Mine will be fixed at 435mm in the back. It has a tall stack, lowish bb, and 64 degree head angle. Was looking for a trail bike with a 130mm fork. This isn’t intended to replace my Full Suspension rig. 

I went misty copper with fox orange graphics to match my grip 2 34. He’ll do any color you want. Thought about disco moss, but got cold feet.

Manzanita Cycles. Basically a guy in Reno. He uses a blend of tubes which made allot of sense to me. Plus at 6’1” I’m always between Large and XL so off the shelf frames always felt like a compromise.

I had an XL Stache even though Trek suggested I was top end of a Large for example.

I agree. The short chain stays on Steve’s Maniak was another reason I didn’t buy one. I think short chain stays probably work on a medium or small frame, but for large and xl frames it just messes up the balance. 

I too chose to go custom. Should have my frame this fall. I didn’t go as slack or long as your Walt Works, but like you said allot of geo preference is terrain dependent.

I had a Stache for a season. it was great on the right trail, but could feel a bit vague on some terrain. I ran the sliders all the way back, and looked everywhere for a way to slacken the front end. This was before nine point eight.

No other bike navigated root beds better then a stache. The thing just floats over them. It wouldn’t be my first choice for flow trails, or for anyone who rides to their trails.

Maybe he’ll send you guys one to review? I was seriously considering a Maniak, but the lack of tire options, and 2023 delivery gave me cold feet.

Ouch damn. Heal up fast, and stay away from the Red Bull TV Bike channel. 

At least it happened on the job. I have two friends who blew theirs jumping into pools of all things.

I’m running flats on my full suspension and clipped in on my hardtail. I’ve tried running flats several times on my hardtail and I always get bounced off.

I love my Hardtail, but would spend all my money on a layout  with similar efficiency, and power transfer, but a little less bike to rider violence when things get rough, or choppy. 

I had a 2013 Hei Hei with flex stays and hated it, but that was aluminum. I’m sure carbon is better suited for flex stay applications, but I’m still a bit wary. Seems anything that flexes will only have so many flex cycles before it eventually fails. Sure a lifetime warranty may help, but a lifetime warranty won’t walk my ass out of the woods with a broken frame. 

Perhaps some sort of revamped strut layout like the old Rocky Mountain Razor Back? Or a maybe a soft tail? 

Any experience with the Spur?

By trend I mean trend of two. This Lux, and the Exie.

I swore off press fit bb’s a while back after two bad experiences. I’m sure they’re better now, but please keep us updated if any problems. Also, is the shock stroke really 55mm? Interesting trend if so. The Exie has a similar leverage ratio.

Still loving my Canfield! My poor Ripmo AF is being neglected. So much fun! Stole the front wheel off the Ripmo to try a mullet setup, I liked it! Might grab a 29er front wheel soon.

Oddly I just got a wolftooth geoshift -2 degree headset and it will be installed in the coming week or 2. I'm sure I will be entering crankworx soon.

As long as your seat angle is fashionably steep you’re sure to podium.

FWIW my 9point8 40mm stem failed while attempting a tech climb on my Hardtail. The stem was only a few months old, and was torqued to spec. It cracked on both clamps near the bolts.

Contacted 9Point8 and all they did was send a new clamp. I was surprised they didn’t want to investigate the old clamp, or at least see the failure for themselves. Maybe that’s not standard procedure for stem manufactures? I’ve never had a stem fail before so I don’t know. Nevertheless it didn’t make me feel that they take stem failure seriously, and I’ve lost all confidence in the their stem.

Not sure it’s as bad as everyone feared. Sram stuff recently hit shelves, and I hear Shimano will be back in stock come July, but now There’s talk of looming North American gas shortages this summer. Wish I could store a bunch of unleaded.

You don't have to worry about gas shortages, gas is commodity surge priced, as long as someone is willing to pay an extra $1/Liter, it will always be available.

No this is more supply chain oriented. There’s plenty of gas, not enough tanker drivers to deliver it.
