JR, Yes.
This section lengthens ExtraSauce and now goes straight into EmmaPeel. (less chance of getting lost)
The whole XC line now only goes twice,both times it's approx. 50ft onto the FSRoad and then back in, to the bottom.
You won't even notice this line ,till all of a sudden you notice " this section is new".
Sumas E. side top one hour up on FSR , enter the KnobGobbler and it's hour and a half of xc singletrack down.

This pix is nearly four years old, (bridge age approx. nine years)but the bridge still stands as proud as ever.
Mesh has been added and a big old maple just about took it out.
Now the downed Maple is part of the end .
Over the years Clayburn area has seen a mine get bigger,houses denuding the forest,a huge subdivision above ,as well as logging on Sumas.
This means now every year a couple of times this creek floods and Clayburn village get huge volumes of water.
Some are looking who to blame,considering this trail has been here fifteen plus years,and it never flooded before,guess why .

Feb 2011 this old trail is clear and just get better with age.
This bridge built entirely out of cedar was hand carried in ,every piece took over two months.
At one time this bridge was just a small guts skinny to go across, now it's bigger but with the mine getting bigger, lots of houses ,logging,seems it rages four/five times a year.
oh well welcome to progress.
No worries though this bridge is high and has been standing for a long time.

Rode this sweet extension and can't wait till spring.
Right now this section takes out the short boring road ride and adds a huge amount of XC riding. Up down ,horses begone.
Riders who come out to Sumas will be rightly rewarded, E.side trails are all about the XC world.
KnobGobbler ,out onto the road and right back in.
HolidaySauce once out 40ft on road and right back in.
Then XtraSauce till finally out ,then in and the EmmaPeel awaits till the bottom.
One hour up(if your fit or close to fit) and a hour and a half of XC bliss down.
Come spring all the new work will show and this sucker is going to be fast fast fast.
Did I mention big time fun??

Was clearing out the trail today and sat and ate my lunch on the bench.
This pix show's exactly the color,it's so red.
When they say western red cedar that's what they mean.
This is old growth with the grain tight,unlike new cedar.
Sweet or what . Soft Taco clayburn area.

Here's Doug and his son Dustin ,we were riding the steep,natural Chadsey Lake trail.
It was a beauty of a day ,with a lot of fun.
I am pretty sure the doug and I ended up swimming in CL .
Good times to be sure.

It's been an exciting year with large increases of membership .

Another season of indoor racing is now on.
Till DEC 7th
Then a second different indoor build Jan 20 till Mar 1st.
There will be no 4X racing this year but 4xers can practice any wed. OR
Race with the BMX Cruisers on Sat evenings from 5:30pm on,with racing at 7pm.
Sundays 9am on racing at 11am. Track is left open after sunday racing for those who want to continue to ride,
for a while.

I am pretty sure there is a citzen license for $20 rest of 2014 and a $40 license for 2015.

This tues feb 11 tomorrow marks the last two indoor 4X mtn bike races . Finals Feb18th.
Come out and give the trails a break as indoor tues/thurs mtbike days ,only four left.
If your a girl ,come out and race ,support the other girls .
With the great weather we have been having till today, the numbers are down but oh well.
Give the trails a break and grab that bike, two weeks left and indoor is done.

Me /Trev/Kim have put a bunch of work on TimeKiller and the Knob as well as last week on NoahFear.
(we post all the time welcoming new helpers on our facebook page etc..)
Some local residents, have been running the Squid on their motocycles.
Like a local pain in the ….. they feel they can do what they like ,as they live there.
I have a list of needs to do on Sumas, and I am hopeful that some of our others ,can put some love on the Squid. Having a couple of locals up there ,rip up the area, really is a pain to put it mildly.
Either Moforestry or FVRD needs to put some enforement on Sumas.
As a mtbiker I don't feel it's my job to police the mtn., Yes we can do what we can but really.
Those who have caused such grief on the mtn. to be some of the same people who live there????
Hypocrites..
Remember fvmba is not a big machine who can put part of their budget to do all that needs to be done.
You as well as all riders are who we are.
If your not a member ,either join up,shut up , or volunteer.

Dam those are nice.
After fighting a knotted cedar ,till I finally got out the chainsaw.
That's primo cedar .

Some of the best cedar i have used is old cedar.
Just look at the grain, tight and dense,it will last for a very long time.
Some cedar even big trees have loose grain and I am sure they will have a long life .
The tight grain ,I think has more oils ,it definitely is the wood of choice for me.
Coming across a big tree laying down ,covered in moss,makes for sweet rungage and easy splitting.

One great way for skills to be taught is indoor BMX racing in Abbotsford.
Jan 21st Indoor reopens and it's practices just about every evening and weekend racing sat/sun.
Tuesdays is mtbike 4X racing or just bring her bike and practice.
Coaching is always available for a nominal price($5?)
While a indoor BMX track is not xc racing,the skills needed ,can be practiced and friends made.
You get to meet so many bikers,and families who have the same likes and love of the bike.
check out either the abby bmx website or their facebook page ,for info.
I think you will be surprised .
The nice part is your parents can be involved with their bikes as well.
Race or practice ,meet like minded bike centric people, nice.

FVMBA first race of this years 5 race series is this tuesday Nov 12/19th.
Best two race results and the mandatory finals in Feb will make the 2014 4X champ.
Mtbikes are welcome at indoor any tuesday or thursday,whether to just practice or race.
Great atmosphere and laidback as you would expect from BC.
