Interesting note about the capabilities of the Deore brakes.

I've gotten this feeling that the amount of power they have is more than enough to do some serious riding, but still can't shake the "Deore" label from my mind.

Any comparisons for power vs other brakes (ex: vs Codes, or other models in the Shimano lineup, etc.)?

I think I'm in love.

Kinda funny until you realize that a lot of the shops on the North Shore have shit websites*.

Which means they're missing out on a lot of capital.

*A lot of the stores are pleasant to work with and they're great people, but simply from a business perspective, it's a huge mistake to not invest in an online webstore.

Used to have the Wolf Tooth EnCase sleeves, but I found that sometimes handlebar scrapes had the chance to pull on the bar end and slightly mangle the sleeves. Surprisingly though, the extra weight didn't affect handling much. 

I wonder if the EDC Lite leaves enough space on the bottom of the fork? One could use the Giant Clutch or Fork Cork, and possibly fit a chain breaker + quick links / plugs in there.

Usually, I stuff quick links on the back of the brake lever blade, they seem to fit that notch pretty well. And since I only use one finger on the edge of the lever for braking, the tape in the middle doesn't affect feel. Not sure if exposing the quick link to the elements might make it wear prematurely though.

OneUp EDC Lite has been good enough for me 99.99% of the time. Much quicker to use than the full EDC tool, and the extra functions usually aren't required.

I think it'd be nice to somehow stealthily include a chain tool, but I ride light enough that it's more for peace of mind rather than an outright necessity.

I think this argument only applies to a certain extent. It's pretty hard to say that a $300 helmet is going to be 3x safer than a $100 helmet.

I'm not advocating for people to wear $10 Walmart helmets, that's just silly. But on the opposite end of the spectrum, even the extra features like ventilation and anti-bacterial linings don't make it worth (for me).

Definitely see your point about the price of bike parts being exorbitant, but at the same time, there is an actual market for these, especially if the product is good.

Not sure how much experience you have with lifetime warranties, but brands like Santa Cruz and We Are One have proven quite generous in this area.

Better to look like an orange than to blitz around on an e-bike with your baseball cap backwards and headphones on... kind of makes sense actually, since riding like an idiot will probably make you crash more, so why spend money on a helmet? Just focus on looking cool!

On a serious note, I've never been able to get behind dropping big coin on a helmet. Just doesn't make sense (for me) to throw $300 at something that needs to be replaced because of one bad slip.

Really loving my VPD 2.0 knee pads. Admittedly, they're thick, but the level of comfort and protection is so good that I don't mind the extra bit of heat.

Same problem with my POC pants though. The waistband just seems to stretch forever... Tossing it in the dryer tightens it back up but only temporarily.
