I should have mentioned that. 160 mm on a Ripmo AF
Thanks
I have seriously been considering a Z1 coil. The only thing dissuading me is the limited springs.
At 135lbs would the medium spring running no preload work?
It sounds like everyone running this fork runs a stiffer spring than recommended. Maybe the medium would work well for a lightweight like me? I don’t want to run the light spring with preload at max....
I’m still stuck in 1998 and rocking shimano 747s and lake Mx 200s. I got some one up flats for Christmas and will be getting some flat shoes this spring. Wanted flats for the occasion I do some steep trails with high probability of crashing
I Really enjoyed this article. I love reading about people rides and the reasoning behind their spec. Nice change from reading about the latest and greatest.
Thanks :)
Any idea if the coil negative springs in the older suntour forks are the same as the negative spring in a DVO diamond? Im a lightweight and would like to run a softer negative spring to get more range from the OTT adjuster. Im not sure if what I’m saying makes sense, but at the psi they suggest for my weight, they suggest 0-2 turns of OTT. My thinking is that a softer negative spring would give me a wider range of adjustments.
Have you had any time on the leatt 2.0 shoes? I’m wondering if the added flexibility gives more grip. I think Andrew Major really liked those. Just wondering how they compare as I’m considering picking up a pair.
Better cornering is my goal for this season. Every now and then again I catch myself with my weight too far back on corners and steeper terrain. I need to sign up for a lesson (hopefully they can be offered) this summer, pick up some cones and get out on some gravel. I’ll remember to put on some elbow pads, or if it’s really not going well, my Dainese suit from 2001 and really commit.
Thanks
Are you running the tannus inserts front and rear? Is the big advanatge lower tire pressure + protection or is there also something else going on?
The ripmo AF is a great example of a metal bike with quality suspension. I bought the bought the nx build at around $4000 CAD, crazy value, and I can upgrade the drivetrain when it wears out.
Thanks! Will be looking hard at these and the new specialized shoes with slipnot rubber
What’s the width like? Five tens are too wide for me and feel a bit clunky. Just picked up some one up comps and have started to look at shoes
