Crankbrothers' Stamp Shoes - May 17, 2021, 8:11 a.m.

After nearly decade on SPD's I switched to flat pedals once my first kid starting riding onboard with me (on a mac ride).  Kid 2 is on the mac ride now and I'm still on flats.  I ended up getting the base model freeriders which have some nice flex in their soles, unfortunately my local shop didn't have these CB shoes.  I'll have to try these ones out when my freeriders are trashed.

This weekend I did a ride on SPD's (after two full years on flats) and I found: I missed the ability to move/adjust my feet a little bit as required and that I felt a little less beat up using my SPD's.  Maybe my body is more relaxed on SPD's?  Efficiency?

Do The Twist (and stay safe on the trail) - March 30, 2021, 3:26 p.m.

I've had sucess with:

no glue / isopropyl (only slight twisting over months)

spray can clear coat

gorilla glue

I think the clear coat is ulitamately the easiest of the bunch, just blast some in and slide it on fast.

You're articles have pushed me to using push-ons exclusively and it's been great.  I have chester's on my DJ and Oury mountain grips on Ragley HT.  I've also run ESI Chunky grips that were nice but not durable enough.

Turns out glue is enough for me, no wiring needed.

Thanks Andrew!

Trailbuilding With E-Bikes - Another Tool in the Box - Oct. 8, 2020, 7:53 a.m.

Help me understand what the big deal is. I have yet to see any reports showing that e-bikes are causing any trouble. Have trails actually been closed somewhere due to e-bike usage? Are trails actually being thrashed by a handful of people with pedal assist? Or is everyone just mad that there might be a few more bikes on the trail?

I've seen them on the trails and it's just another bike as far as I'm concerned.

I think that you could also argue that if e-bikes get more people on the trails, representation and funding would inevitably increase.

Note: I don't have an e-bike or live in BC. All of my trail building/maintenance has been done via shuttle and hiking.
