I was there for my first one. Although I found what they did was good, I was disappointed in what wasn't there. They had a slide of the CMHC signs and then said they would discuss it later. They didn't. There was not a word about the whole business. Thats the main reason I went.

There was a slide relating to development on Cypress. But not a word was said about it.

Then there was that issue of liability insurance for directors. I may have missed something here but I was under the impression that there was going to be a vote which required 100% approval. But there was nothing after the discussion. And no concrete data on what the extra insurance was going to cost.

I found it a bit bizarre and unorgasnized.

But kudos for everyone who tried for a director spot. Great to see so much interest. And the stats on membership growth and the stretch targets for next year were great. Does anyone know if all the slides from the presentation are on the website?

I am responding to your email of October 24, 2016, regarding lands owned by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) located in the District ofNorth Vancouver.
CMHC and the Province of British Columbia are joint owners of 640 acres of federal/provincial land assembly known as the Blair Rifle Range, located in the district ofNorth Vancouver. CMHC, as the majority landowner, manages the property, which was acquired in 1969. In early 2016, we were made aware ofunauthorized trail building activity on CMHC lands which could potentially raise safety concerns and litigation exposure. In our role as co-owner and manager of the land, updated signage was installed around the perimeter of the property given that it is not a public space for recreation.
This action triggered concern among various parties. In response to concerns expressed, we met with representatives from the Province, the District ofNorth Vancouver and the North Shore Mountain Bike Association (NSMBA) to discuss current recreational usages of the property. The meetings were an important first step in establishing an open dialogue with interested parties, and underscoring our commitment to considering all points of view.
As a result of the meetings, and information brought forward by interested parties, CMHC and the Province are prepared, as co-owners, to permit reasonable and responsible recreational use of the property. Users are reminded that persons entering this land do so entirely at their own risk, and that the owners are not responsible for any damage or loss to property, or personal injury.
We very much appreciate the extent to which local groups, citizens and Members of Parliament mobilized to make us aware of the importance of this space locally.

Just a heads up. My girlfriend was running along Mel's trail at Burnaby mountain this evening and was attacked by an owl. She survived and seems to be ok. Could have been her pony tail that attracted it? who knows..

I hit an owl with my truck on the Coq this weekend if that helps.

2. Grouse Mountain, yes the actual mountain, not just the commercial business, is for sale.

3. CMCH has just put ALL the Seymour mountain bike trails into play as a potential land development site.

Mr. Colbert is a mountain biker and a member of the NSMBA.

He has been dealing with the types of issues listed above since 1990 both as a mountain bike enthusiast and in his business.

He has knowledge of law and politics, albeit as a politician his success is suspect :-)

To beat him in the Supreme Court, Councillor Bond relied on two in-house lawyers, 3 external legal counsel and an entire staff contingent. It took them 4 hearings over 3 months, possibly a Supreme Court record against a self-represented party in such a short time. He prevailed at the first two, the third was adjourned generally. They then put together a team to work the media including two members of the NSMBA, friends of Bond, writing for newspapers. He still has not backed down :-)

It would seem to me that when the developers come to take away the Cypress, Grouse and Seymour trails, Mr. Colbert might be someone you would want on your side. At the very least he could run interference for the better part of a decade against the other parties :-)

He can't be bullied and doesn't care about campaign contributions from land developers. He is their worst nightmare LOL
