Tri-Cities 2014 Trail Conditions (PoMo, Coq, PoCo) (Merged)

Hey guys thanks for giving me such great advice. I think I will go skid down starz now that it's really wet and muddy. This is going to be awesome!
:couple:

Honestly, if you actually said sensible things once in a while, people would respond to you. PM me if youhave specific trail questions.

Lights - 2014-15 season (merged)

Haha…When the price difference is this large I gotta try. This is an experiment…We'll see how it goes.

Lightmalls for back to me, the package for returned to them so the had to send it off again, new tracking numbers and it looks like it is in Mississauga….

I had the same problem. Hopefully it works this time.

Halloween!

My son has an Asterix costume - and I am dressed as Obelix.

Amazed how many people have no clue who these two are…or maybe I come from an odd background. Will post a pic later.

You've put on a lot of weight then?
:D

No costume for me, I'll be on the roof with a growler and my super soaker.

Well that's a waste of beer :P

SRAM XX Chain Sizing

Close, through the 24T cog (7spd DH), sans RD.

Fair enough, when I set up mine (OneUp 42T on W/N 32T chainring, hardtail) I followed the 4 link suggestion and it seemed a little loose, but hasn't caused any issues with slack chain at all, I could maybe take out one link, but unless I need to, I won't

Squamish 2014 Trail Conditions

Current conditions?

I rode on Sunday, did Rupert, Entrails, Value Added, Icy Hole, Roller Coaster, Fred and WOM. It was wet in spots, but for the most part, everything was really good. Rupert was probably the worst of the lot.
I was surprised it was as good as it was given the rain the day before. Roller coaster has some big puddles in the corners, but if you know how to ride a berm, then you will avoid most of them.

You are threading it around the 42T cog and chainring without going through the derailleur, then adding the 4 links, right?

So if nots Ebola.. then what be it?

Listening to that Brit try to reproduce the accent of a Black dude from Dallas was the saddest thing I’ve run across in this thread. Way more tragic than an Ebola outbreak.

A note to all North Americans: Remember this statement when you try and impersonate a british accent, because that's how bad you sound to us. ;)

Gunman (men?) in Parliment hill

why do so many assume he suffered from mental illness? Sounds to me like he was a drug addict from a broken home with little or no family support or parental guidence.

As someone who's had to deal with the effects of addiction, this is an ignorant statement, and is unfortunately the baseline way of thinking for most out there. One thing to consider; no-one, at any point in their life will wake up in the morning and say to themselves, 'I want to be an addict'. There's no glamour or positive outcome to the life of an addict, addiction is a mental disease. It can come from a series of events and bad decisions, and will trap you and enslave you, the only thing an addict cares about is getting the next hit. Petty crime is normal; stealing to get money for the addiction, murder is not normal, it doesn't help the addiction in any way.
Also, if someone is from a broken home and that has driven them to murder, then how is that not mental illness?

Do you buy from CRC?

I just broke off my X0 Trail lever/master cylinder at the handlebar mount, ordered up a replacement from TBS for $170 for a complete side (except for rotor).

I'd like to know how this guy is getting his stuff so cheap.

!!! I paid the same amount for a pair of XT brakes. That seems pricey. Maybe I'm out of the loop

PUMPKIN BEERS

No Duvel does not do a secondary fermentation in the bottle. The chill haze WAS from all the goodness left in the batch.Chill haze is caused by the malt. The Belgans assume that we like clear beer.
Ever had Guinness stout in Ireland? Not the same as what they ship here. The Irish assume that we will not be happy with a beer at 3.5% alcohol so they make a more potent version for our country. Thing is it is NOT the original stout from Ireland even though it is brewed in Ireland. The Guinness brewed by Labatts is garbage.
Cascade and Citra hops are over used in North American brewries. Plenty of hop smack, cheap and boring. I prefer old school English hops.
But i digress.

Duvel, like a lot of belgian beers (especially trappist beers) are bottle conditioned, which will mean a small amount of yeast residue in the bottom.
Chill haze is something different, and it's generally considered undesirable in beer. cloudiness is not necessarily chill haze.

Not sure what Guiness has to do with anything, and uncertain why you are rallying against two hop varieties when there are so many more out there.

PUMPKIN BEERS

Schoenrock made me laugh out loud!
I too have noticed that master brewers like to change the recipe. Pisses me off.
Duvel was a great Belgian beer. Use to have a chill haze so it always looked cloudy. Then they must have cold filtered it for us Canadians. Stripped the beer of all its funky flavors!
I have been told the Red Racer pumpkin beer is good. Will try it tonight.

I believe it's bottle conditioned, so it could be that the solids crashed out to the bottom of the bottle when it was chilled. If you like the haze, gently swirl the bottle before pouring.
