a question for the masses: does lifetime warranty sway you at all on the SC bikes? How many keep a bike beyond 5 years?

Why bother with this? Why not run a 104bcd spider with an appropriately sized bash for your chainring? Avoid the proprietary nonsense and have good chainring availability. I’ve even seen a few half plate bashes if you really want to count grams (and always ride same foot forward).

I have an original crank brothers dropper post, in use steady for over a decade now!

A small thing, but they don’t seem to have spec’d the cassette on the various models listed. Curious if they went up or down on those since some of the bikes are a mix of GX and X01 or others.

Great review. About the only person who thinks GX is on par or better than SLX is SRAM him or herself. And GX pricing at both retail and OE is inline with XT. SRAM has some work to do...

I’ve run odi rogue lock-ons for 15 years and this article and ensuing comments has persuaded me to try to slip on version. A little surprised no one else has tried them here...

And if you buy a complete bike you won’t get the bb tool and are left scrambling.

Andrew - could you mod chainline with reduced spacers?

I tore mine badly (I forget the grade) in the WBP, but I lived in New York City at the time.  I went to visit a young hotshot orthopedic surgeon in Manhattan and I'll never forget what he said: I'm an othorpedic surgeon! I get paid to cut people open! I love doing it! ... But I can't recommend you get surgery for this. 

And I think he was right.  I did a ton of physio the first 10 weeks and went riding that fall.  Since then I ride semi-regularly and I rarely think about my shoulder. Only when I have to sleep on a hard mattress, and carrying a large pack when skiing.  No regrets on not having surgery. I think it could be better than it is, but I do almost nothing to take care of my body, other than ride and ski - no weights or other training, and I'm sure I would benefit from it if I did so...  Maybe when my kids are older.
