Great article and looking at the UROC page I was quite surprised by the lack of donors considering that a large number of business thrive because of the Mountain Biking's popularity in the region especially those directly within Cumberland.

I know some business's donate in other ways than cash so that is not taken into account.

Assegai front Big Betty Rear is my go to combo. Not for those that need everything to match but it works so well on the trail I don't think I could care less.

I was thinking the same thing but then remembered what it's like to try and operate a touch screen phone when it is just a little bit wet.

The biking life everything that is old is new again. We are at the 90's Klein stage of bike design. Fixed stems/bar combos and internal cable routing. With Gravel riding and skinnies making a comeback I feel like we have come full circle.

I owned a V2 Spitfire for a few months but it was run over by a careless driver. Sad day it was the first new bike for me in a very long time and if I could have purchased another to replace it I would have but that was not an  option at the time. I purchased it specifically because I had 26in wheels at the time and I wanted to future proof my bike. The bike rode really well for the amount of travel it had. Just be aware that if you are looking second hand there were some cracking issues with some batches of frames so keep an eye out.

It is not easy to do in todays world of Land Use Agreements, paid maintenance crews, cycling organizations. You cannot just show up and start work on trails in certain areas.

I have seen many examples of ride arounds put in for "safety" then it becomes the main line and then lastly the feature has been deemed unsafe and is decommissioned.

Spot on if you cant ride it walk it and I have been doing it for years. One of my favorite trails has a move in it that is only ridable by me if I am mentally and physically on if not I am walking it. 

Paid trail crews and liability questions have really changed a lot of trails in the last few years for my trail network.

Yes I took the time to explain. 

The difference is not quite as extreme as you’re smart car F350 example. That bike had mtb parts all over it.

Yes we see it as that but the broader public may not. I was sent this video from a coworker saying that he would love to take something like that out on our local trails. He is unaware of the current debate and general discussion within the MTB community. It has pedals therefore its an ebike.

This is the issue with ebikes how do you stop these guys vs specific categories.

I think this is the crux of the issue for most and it’s how do you stop non CAT 1 ebikes. If you say no motors that’s relatively easy to deal with but once there is a motor how is it dealt with. Or in a few years if industry creeps the speeds up a notch. 

They want to sell these and will be looking for an advantage over the competition be that in distance or speed or both.

Again more what ifs. 

How do you stop people from skidding corners? Building rogue trails?Riding hiking trails? Tossing garbage out the window? Educate them and continue to do so. 

Kinda like the IMBA, they have pounded it into so many people heads you need 100 switchbacks per km of trail that it is a standard. 

Argue all you want, stick your head in the sand name call etc but the bikes are here to stay. Trail organizations will need to get on board with signage at trailheads to help inform ebike riders on proper etiquette.

It’s cool you are into ebikes and are passionate about them Dman but I have issues with what it will become since they are here and the issues that they will cause to the trail network. Sticking my head in the sand is pretending that there won’t be issues and things will be sunshine and roses. There are already throttle kits available, 2wd versions and that’s now. If you are looking to the future you need to plan and think ahead of how to deal with those issues.
