I made the same under/over lacing discovery with the 2FO DH flat shoes and actually looked at that first photo to see how yours were laced before reading the article. At the time, I assumed mine were laced wrong by one of the shop kids but maybe they're shipping them like that?
I have three rides on a new pair of Specialized 2FO DHs. I was interested in the Stamp boa but since since my size was in stock in the new Specialized shoes at a shop down the street from my house... They’re grippier than the Freerider Pros they replaced and much stiffer. The laces were initially hard to tighten but getting a good fit became easier when I re-laced them to enter the eyelets from below rather than above. On bike feel is good despite the thicker and stiffer sole and grip with TMAC pedals is basically clipless with vertical exit.
Some rain but nothing too heavy. Mostly just morning mist in the Redwoods.
It's usually located with or near the spray paint in hardware stores. I don't know if the Krylon brand is big in Canada but it's almost generic for spray paint in the US, like Kleenex for facial tissue.
Nice! A 2020 Enduro was my N=1 bike until I made the mistake of taking a 2021 Epic Evo for a test ride. Now it's sharing stable space with its much lighter sibling. I have similar builds on the two bikes other than frame/shock/fork but those differences are enough to add up to 8 lbs.
5.10 Freerider Pros and Deity TMACs here but it's not like I've tried a ton of options. I had a pair of the v1 Specialized 2FOs that gave me a hot spot on my right foot and used the Impact Pro in the past. I'm comfortable/happy with my current setup other than disliking laces. Must be all of the years I spent wearing Sidi Dominators.
