HG freehub drivers are horrible. The aluminum ones get huge pits in them, the steel ones weight a ton and the Ti ones cost a fortune. Micro spline is lighter, cheaper, and fits a wider range of gears. Some things need to disappear because they are no good/uncompetitive.

I think they are on the right track! I really need to go out into the garage and get on top of my Garage 529 registrations...

It would be really amazing to see this concept taken one step further and have a standardized bicycle VIN number implemented and then connect that up to a provincial registration administered by the government. This would add a layer of complication, but I suspect the small yearly registration fee would pay for itself fast in making bike theft much less lucrative for thieves as selling stolen bikes would be a lot more difficult.

What is the ride quality like with the KW V3s? I've been eyeing them up as a possibility for my Dinan E36 sometime in the future.

It would have been nice to have one clear shot of the fixed gear bike too!

From what I've seen in the news paper Oregon will follow suit with Washington and BC on this one. I'm really hoping that the Sunshine Protection Act gets through this year!

I really enjoyed this article! Nice to see the cost comparison at the end. I used to do some drifting back in the day just with janky cars and tires sourced from the local tire shop's discard bin in the dead of night. It was still expensive with such junk cars. Biking has an amazing cost to adrenaline ratio.

Even still, how in the world could the bicycle side of the operation be profitable at 50 frames per year? The employees there must only spend a small fraction of their time working on Unno products. The suspension development costs alone would outstrip the profits from 50 frames. It is a mysterious world...

You should use an abrasive hacksaw blade (or an angle grinder with cutting disk) when cutting through carbon rather than a toothed blade. It gives a much smoother cut and won't tear the fibers out. Also, wear respiratory protection as carbon dust is supposedly very bad for your lungs.

Absolutely. It is a very niche thing. Anyone who built such a drivetrain would have to be able to make a profit while moving a small number of units.
