Test of Metal - late start and avoid all the schmucks?

I don't get this. My understanding is the test of metal is a gravel road and questionable single track race for roadies. If powerhouse plunge is a sampling of the "downhills", well meh. So, one should expect it is going to be a pedal fest and that you will be bottlenecked on any descents by people who are potentially walking their bikes downhill.

Granted, there are always people who excel at the entire race but unless you can get behind those people and stay with them, you likely won't have a clear shot on any of the descents.

My 2cents (coming from someone who has never actually done the race but only heard countless horror stories from dh friends.)

This stuff is great. I add lots of cinnamon, blueberries (thawed) and almonds. Serve with a bit of milk; no added sugar required. It also goes well topped with sliced bananas and or fresh strawberries.

Make lots of extra servings. It heats up really well in the micro throughout the week. Change your toppings and voila, you don't get bored of it.

Eggs make for an easy meal; throw in whatever you have in the fridge for a good scramble… ham, bacon, sausage, spinach, tomatoes, peppers, onions, broccoli, cheese. Maybe not all of those ingredients at once, though, lol. I like to top it with avocado and a hot sauce like Tapatio.

I actually had dirt spray into my mouth! Apparently, I had a big, wide mouth grin in order to let it in! Super fun.

Kid's knee pads

My 8 yr old nephew is showing an interest in riding and I'd like to get him some knee and elbow pads. I'm looking for an inexpensive option to give him some protection until we see how much he ends up riding. Any shops with stock or online product selections would be greatly appreciated!!

Frank's Memorial Ride

As an honour and lasting memory to Frank Haritonis, TORCA has commissioned a sign which will be mounted at the trail head of Frank’s trail during a memorial ride/hike on Saturday, April 9th.

Schedule:
9:45 AM – Meet at the hairpin turn on Harper Rd, Burke Mountain
10:00 AM – Ride/hike up to Frank’s
10:30 AM – Take a brief moment before proceeding with mounting the sign. After that we will commence the ride down Frank’s trail.

We want to invite everybody to come out and help us celebrate Frank’s legacy.

TORCA would like to thank the family for allowing us to honour Frank in the way we think he would have appreciated the most.

We also would like to thank Matt Scott who manufactured and generously donated the signs.

Duffy Lake on Greenstone Mtn; on the other side of the Hwy as Inks. Apparently the very lowest trails are open now.

Ankle ligament surgery, yes/no

I had multiple injuries to both ankles in my early teens, tearing pretty much every tendon and ligament, and often not allowing it to heal before I re-injured it. I was in competitive dancing at the time and was impatient, lol.

Other than freaking physiotherapists out when they see how little proper range of motion I have in my ankles and how much they crack and move from side to side, I don't have any issues in my day to day and recreational living. I can skate, ski, mtb, moto, hike (although my knees are more the limiting factor there). The only thing I really notice is that I can pretty much roll my ankles right to the side and still stand on them; it also freaks people out.

If I could go back in time and get the surgery, I wouldn't. Have a good chat with a trusted physio and see what they think the benefits of the surgery would be.

Good luck!
