Vesper? If so, just get Classic.
Vespers simply cannot handle big dudes and steep AF climbs (ie like here in Whis) - went through 2 that would slip at the steepest pitches; no fix worked
HOWEVER, Classic Onyx hub version (which I had previous to Vesper and now have switched back to) have been flawless for me in long term use. Just get the Classic and all good. Damn, I love the silence and momentum that they carry....
Get it! But see my other post - least favourite thing is the beam pattern with very defined line between spot and wide beam. But this is a GREAT headlamp. All my Petzl and Black Diamond headlamps sit unused now that I have the Raven
I have one as well and got a bunch for friends on a deal Lynx had a while. By far my most used headlamp - LOVE IT! You can get a GoPro mount for it too. I consider it an amazing back up for mtbiking, but personally prefer a bike-specific light that has a good beam pattern (which the Raven does not). Raven's biggest downside for riding is that the beam pattern is basically a very defined spot with a bunch of broad beam overspill. If you are used to using crappy lights with crap beam patterns, or just ride slow so aren't distracted by it, it's fine. But for dedicated mtb light, my preference is something with a better beam pattern (I use the Outbound EVO system Hangover and Trail).
Just swapped into the Sutros from Flight Jackets and really like them. However, 2 negatives - super crappy lens choices right now (no Low Light, which is my main lens) and lack of unobtainium socks on the arms. I actually hacked up a couple old extra Oakley ear sock spares I had lying around and shoved them on my 2prs of Sutros so that the Sutros stay stuck in my helmet while climbing. I know that Oakley added unobtainium to Sutro Lite I think? Wish it was on the regular Sutro.
So you think Trax are better than Halo? Been using Halo for years and just started using their thicker X3 version, which is killer.
For sweatband, Halo X3 (thickest) is killer! Also regular Halo. Skip the Halo Air as it's useless when you're really sweating.
Glasses on back for climbing (have A3, but similar with my A2 or A1) and always carry a cleaning cloth in a ziplock (so it can't get contaminated by other sweaty gear) to clean em off if need be during the ride or before the descent.
That'll take care of your issues.
Did those ones have as well the bearing at the ball end of the hex?
Is this any Trek dealer or the Trek labelled stores?
Never tried inserts, but with Cam's review and your comments on pricing at certain stores, I'm definitely in for trying a set! I'm in Whistler but locating any store from here into Van, I'd definitely get a set
Also ZipLok looks to be UK? Is there any Canadian distro or did you just order off the regular HipLok site?
Dave, your Abus Granit 58 link is broken.
Thanks ZipLok looks nifty! Will check it out.
My go-to is the massive chains that Broadway Lock sells, with big-ass American Standard locks that cannot be cut with any boltcutter. I have numerous of these locks, in short and long shackle, all keyed the same. Use with mtbs and motorbikes.
Abus makes awesome floor anchors too - essential for if someone does actually break in to your garage....
As much as I LOVE mtbiking and it is by far and away my main (summertime) activity, there is NOTHING that makes me feel more alive than dropping knees in corners on my Ducati. Gotta have 'em both... especially when I drive a Tacoma as my daily driver. Love the truck, but it sure isn't very exciting on the road.
Agreed! Cam, pleeeease give your proofreaders (or yourself? lol) a kick in the butt. I used to enjoy coming to NSMB to read articles with no spelling or blatant grammatical errors, after reading the poorly written and proofed Pinkbike articles, but every single thing I've read on NSMB lately has had spelling or obvious grammatical errors. Pet peeve for this nerd, lol....
But really enjoyed the content... and I think it does need a follow-up discussion about the scotches!
I was stoked to see the innovative e13 stems and got a pair. Unfortunately they do not play well with any of my Lezyne pumps and pump heads so I will be removing them. Look forward to checking out these Orange Seal ones.
