North Shore Holiday Cards - Dec. 19, 2022, 9:23 a.m.

We will be having a colouring contest at the shop with this one! Cheers for this. Cy, the payment link is not letting me pay for your work. Can you help?

Machina Bikes First Ride - Dec. 6, 2022, 2:57 p.m.

Well done, fellas! I love seeing the bike out in the wild and following your progress. Keep it pinned; we need more of us here in BC building these things. Chapeau

We Are One - Convergence Series Rims - Nov. 23, 2022, 5:33 p.m.

The Unions are excellent, and the Convergence takes all of the good things and makes them that much better. The Convergence has a very audible difference when riding the Revolution rims. It has been described as damping, less stiff, more forgiving but not in a bad way, etc.
The ride feel is superb, the lateral stiffness is increased, and the impact increase is done in-house in a controlled environment with tangible data. 69, and I am not making this up, rims, 26 iterations to the layup schedule, and nine months of a dedicated team working on this project to get it to where it is.

Better was the only option with the Convergence lineup.

We Are One Arrival 152 SP1 - Oct. 25, 2022, 8:59 a.m.

"Balls to the walls" has always made me wonder what that would look like. What do you think AC/DC was trying to show us with that one??? Classic!!

Clearly, you did not read the fine print on that NDA, Brian!!! LOL

We Are One Arrival 170 w 2023 Rockshox Super Deluxe Ultimate Coil - Sept. 22, 2022, 3:51 p.m.

Gage, the rear spacing is 157, yes. This was selected for optimal wheel bracing angle and the stance of the rider. The bike is more planted with 157, in our opinion.
We chose to use a 73mm BB that is typically used for Boost-spaced rear ends. What that has done is tucked the chainring in and brought the cassette out, making optimal chain line in the gears most mountain bikers spend their time in.
So cassette wear is far better due to far less cross-over. There are other benefits as well, but they are based on efficiency claims, and I don't want to open that can of worms.

For bike one, we are more than happy with the outcome but know routing will be a big focus moving forward. The designed shape of the rear end would cause a mountain of cable slack anywhere other than where it is now. We did look long and hard at other areas, and this was the best option for this design.

2023 We Are One Arrival 152 - Sept. 21, 2022, 12:04 p.m.

Our approach to the stack is that you can always add stack to a bike in many ways. Spacers, stems, bars, headsets, steer races, and forks can all add to the stack. But once you have a high or set high stack, you cannot remove it as easily.

Not everyone wants or needs a supreme high stack, and we aim to have The Arrival give you options for where riders prefer their stack.

The recommended sag you have posted up there is just a hair off.

152mm is 25% sitting at 114mm remaining travel

170mm is 30% sitting at 119mm remaining travel

The sag setup on the 152 has been tough for the press to follow as it is not normal. It has been said 20-22 and then some. But our stance and design have always been around 25% sag for optimal ride characteristics and preserved geo.

We have put the bike as close as possible at sag between the two models to keep the ride at home and in a comfortable and consistent setting.

We Are One releases 2023 Arrivals - Sept. 19, 2022, 1:37 p.m.

It upsets me that we cannot make a bike for everyone. Trust me when I say this.

There are just so many different sizes and shapes in the world. I am conceding that we only could target the majority. This isn't due to any other reason than a financial one.

As we gain hold of the beast that is frame manufacturing, we will add and reduce The Arrival's size. All I can ask is for patience in the process.

Many thanks

The packaging of the cables for a floating rear end is challenging. The entry point was very tight, and we had decided that the chain line was more important because having a cassette last longer than a few months was ideal.
I had come from Scott bikes and a Pivot where this routing was the norm and never had an issue. We ran the bike through a year of prototype testing this way and never had an issue. So it was determined to be a safe method for routing. With 500 bikes out in the wild and still no reports of this being a problem, we feel it works as planned.
It was not something that we didn't consider a concession, that is for sure. But the tight packaging and how the rear end moves left very few options for clean execution. The rear grows away from the front, so there is some slack in the line needed.

I have had almost three years on my bike, and still not an issue with the exposed cables. If it were of grave concern, one could run braided Goodridge lines. Not sure if they are still making them, though.

We did too. The nice thing about the Zeb is you can upgrade the air spring with the new tech. Not ideal, but possible.

We Are One Arrival 170 w 2023 Rockshox Super Deluxe Ultimate Coil - Sept. 16, 2022, 11:44 a.m.

Get the 170 and slap the Zeb up to 180. I raced this at the Dunbar Series this year the stack with a 27.5mm bar was more than fine. If you're a chopper guy, get the 35mm bar, and you'll be sweet.

2023 We Are One Arrival 152 - Sept. 15, 2022, 11:38 p.m.

We have fallen victim to the supply chain blues on this one. The 2022 Zeb chassis with the Charge 2.1 was what we could get, and we have been waiting until two days ago to get them. We were lucky enough to get the new rear shock for this round, and I think that part is what counts most if we had to choose.
The 152 is all 2023 RockShox, though.

2023 We Are One Arrival 152 - Sept. 15, 2022, 11:33 p.m.

Awesome to see this much talk around the brake mount. Under the mount are 2 keyed-in 303 Stainless inserts with internal geometries to resist debonding or rotational forces. These could be heli-coiled, but I have no idea why one would ever need to change or adjust the mounting bolts once the brake mount is installed other than to change rotor size.
This design is because the old tried and trued IS tabs are not ideal for carbon construction. IS is one of the worst ways to supply a mount in composite material and will see its time passing. Compaction, orientation, and keeping everything square and plumb there with IS is not the best option.
On top of that, the brake forces are better distributed to the frame and do not load up in a concentrated manner making the fatigue far superior to IS.

I hope this sheds some light on why we chose to use this design.

Makers: Chromag - May 19, 2022, 5:56 p.m.

We should take this opportunity to celebrate anyone who takes the time to design, build, and bring products to the market in our country. It is not easy, and we need to get behind this kind of effort. It can only lead to better outcomes and more opportunities down the road. Ian and the folks at Chromag are a big inspiration to us, and we commend them for all the efforts they put into the world! Chapeaux.
