2015 Formula 1 thread.

Alonso has made some bad career decisions. Should have stayed with Ferrari.

I think he said he's already finished 2nd enough times that unless he got on with Mercedes it didn't really matter. Guess he felt like taking a gamble on the future. No doubt Ferrari has improved but I think their last win was a little bit of a fluke.

British Airways Jet Goes Supersonic

That's crazy. But it was regularly doing transatlantic flights above the sound barrier wasn't it?

Yes, Mach 2.04 is just over twice the speed of sound. It was designed to cruise at supersonic speeds.

When I'm at work I'll have a look in some of the aircraft engines, maybe it ended up going through one of them.

roof rack or hitch mount for a ford poostang?

screw rackattack.

get your hitch here

I've ordered from them. Had a great price on the hitch I needed and they're in Ontario so no border shipping hassles. They're not the greatest at communicating but other than that, no complaints.

Electric Vehicle (EV) discussion thread

Ken, do you live in a house or condo? I'm curious how people are dealing with charging at home if you park in a parkade. You'd obviously need a separate meter for your charging station so the strata doesn't bitch about paying your electrical bill. Don't see how it could easily be hooked up with the meter for my unit which is many floors up from the parkade.

The NSMB Random Picture Thread! **NSFW**

You can see just how quickly the Tesla ramps up to full power, where the M5 doesn't hit the 350 hp mark until it's over 100 mph!

2000 BMW M5 dyno graph :???: And since when is HP speed dependent? The 2014 M5 is 560HP 500ft/lb of torque or something like that no?

The Tesla is a great car, I'd like one, not hating on them.

I'll just be having fun watching cars that cost twice as much from my rear-view mirror.

I really like the Tesla but the car in that video is nowhere near twice the cost.

Tesla 85 kWh Performance Model S: $103,300
BMW M5 Sedan: $101,500

Doubt a standard 60 or 80kWh Model S would beat an M5 like that.

Cool RAT testing video:

WTF did they run it so long? Generally you spin it up to make sure it's governing to the correct speed/not leaking then shut it down. Usually takes about 30 seconds.

You'd think they would at least use a picture of a 777.

New fangled mirrorless cameras

We have a good dslr, and it's just too big to take anywhere, so I almost never use it.

I ended up in the same situation, never took the camera because I didn't want to haul it and a few lenses around.

One thing people often overlook is the size of the lenses. Sure, some of the DSLR bodies are getting smaller but APSC/Full frame lenses are still a fair bit larger and heavier than some of the mirrorless offerings, especially when you start to look at faster lenses.

I've got a Panasonic G6 and am happy with it. The E-M5 is a great camera if you don't mind the ergonomics of it. Right now Micro 4/3's probably has the best native lens selection of the mirrorless systems.

You've probably already seen it but check out the forums on this site for more info and discussions: http://www.mu-43.com/

Now insert all the comments about the sensors being too small and electronic viewfinders sucking…..

Turkey Sale Question

So I was planning to check out Whistler's turkey sale Friday. Just noticed it says Friday is only for locals/pass/edge card holders. Does that mean if someone comes up with me that doesn't have a card they can't get in?

I must be an idiot because I don't see a phone number to call and doubt they would answer an email tonight.

Thanks for any info!
