Interview: Santa Cruz Product Mgr. Josh Kissner on Bronson/5010 Mk 3 - July 4, 2018, 11:46 a.m.

Peter Matthews is on an XXL hightowerLT and he is nearly your stature.  They are out there...just short supply for tall dudes.

2019 Santa Cruz Bronson V3 Ridden in B.C. - July 3, 2018, 4:33 p.m.

Have to say I'm intrigued as well. I spent those two days lugging a camera pack on an HTLT (which I have never gotten along with )and the RM PowerPlay( which I really liked - uphill ). My only trepidation about getting back on a Bronson would be having owned a previous generation 1, and not enjoying it all on anything steeper than my driveway. By contrast, Cam had to tear the Nomad test bike we had last summer away from me when it was time for it to go back. This new Bronson's iteration has me intrigued - the parking lot fit was great in an XL(I'm 6'2") and everyone seemed to be loving their time on them but then it's hard not to enjoy never ending shuttles on Black Forest Ham.

Uncle Dave Questions his Values - June 5, 2018, 9:05 a.m.

Dave, are you suggesting the media squids and magazines to all go full Consumer Reports and buy all their bikes to remain impartial? Given the niche-ness of mountain biking and the diminishing nature of ad buys across the board, I'm not sure that is economically feasible. With the exception of a few sites, I think that most reviewers in the bike industry are unafraid to say publicly in their reviews when - advertisers be damned -  anything has been less than great. Cam and Pete have instilled that in the reviewers on NSMB and likewise I have a lot of time for reviews written by Travis Engle and the Mikes, Kazimer and Levy over at Pinkbike.  The best advice a consumer can take is to have their internal bullshit detectors set on fleek and to establish their own notions of value.

Riding Greg Minnaar’s Signature Maxxis Assegai Tire - May 15, 2018, 10:27 p.m.

The tread pattern looks sloppy wet trail approved but I feel like truth to power may have been an issue with regards to the identity work for that ass-guy(the e is silent).

Dear Uncle Dave: Blow up my Life or Buy a New Bike? - May 8, 2018, 8:19 a.m.

Still true.

Dear Uncle Dave: Blow up my Life or Buy a New Bike? - May 8, 2018, 8:12 a.m.

I've had an Evil insurgent for about 3.5 years now. There's something to be said in buying something you genuinely want and then finding out that you can't find anything that you like more - and I've had opportunities to ride ALL the super bikes. I've only replaced wear-components on my Evil so far but there will be upgrades to the fork, dropper and brakes this spring.

I suspect I'll be replacing my current bike with big wheels later this year but it's more of a want than need thing.
